A few days ago shortly after returning home with one of my MME fobs in my pocket, I needed to go out again, and instinctively reached my pockets but the fob wasn't there anymore. I searched the house, the garage and the car to no avail, thus I thought I perhaps dropped it on my outting. I figured if the fob was still in the car or nearby, the car would turn on so I left the other fob and my phone (which has PAK) inside the house far from the garage, to see if the car would turn on, which it did. Not happy with that, I immediately drove the car a block away, turned it off, and then after waiting a minute I was able to turn it back on. That tells me that the missing fob had to be in the car, right? I searched under and to the side of every seat, the trunk area (including under the removable cover), the frunk, glove compartment, I mean everywhere, but still no fob. If anyone has any ideas to help me find it, I'd appreciate the feedback.

I wish FORD would insert some chip in their fobs, that can be connected to via the FORD PASS APP, so using your phone it would help you locate it. Nothing fancy, I wouldn't expect GPS tracking or anything like that, just some loud beeping would do. It's so basic with so much tech nowadays.

I can't help you find your fob, but I've been there and after a similar incident several years ago, I now have https://www.tile.com/ on all my keys, and I've bought them for friends and family, and it's saved our bacon a few times!

I agree that I wish all mobile electronics would include Bluetooth tracking technology just built right in!

Well you know it's there, I guess you'll just have to look harder. You're sure it's not still in your pocket, right?

+1 for the Tile if you have trouble finding keys.

That would be a cool feature, but does any other car maker do this?

If the vehicle starts, it has to be in it. I would assume it fell out of pocket and is between seat and armrest, or under seat.

There is a small lip under the edge of the seat cushion. The seat itself is mostly hollow. I’ve seen items end up there.

I lost a key to my frs. I didn't need a ride home so it had to be at the house. The FRS is a small car and I looked alot. and then some more. I got a new key because I wanted to have a spare.

a few months later I took some of the carpeting out and between the drivers seat and center console where my hands could not fit I found the fob. I had to use a grabber tool to push it to where I could get it.

This was a long term puzzle until I found it. It had to be at the house or the car because I didn't loose it while out.

Good luck. I feel your pain.

I put an AirTag on my keychain. I used to use Tiles but switched when I was given Airtags. I also have one in my wallet. Getting old sucks.

Interesting idea, but it wouldn’t help you in this case.

You already know the key fob is in the car somewhere.

An air tag or similar product would just tell you the same thing.

Good luck with the search!

On a funny note about the “beeping” to find it- a friend of mine has a “cricket beep” sound in his Jeep.

It’s the result of a prank of a friend of his. He made a little electronic thing that is supposed to beep every 10 minutes, and hides them in peoples cars as a prank. It was only supposed to beep for 2 weeks.

2 years later, it’s still beeping. He thinks he threw it into the a/c vent so there is no easy way to get to it.

I lost my pager inside a car years ago. I found it about a year later sitting on the track the driver’s seat moves back and forth on.
