Why? The MME is only rated for 150kW, no?
I've also seen a few videos that seem to suggest the MME works more dependably on the 150's than the 350's. Although that's probably just anecdotal at this point without enough examples to draw a clear conclusion.

OTOH, some people (in warm weather) are getting the MME up to 160-170 kW for a few minutes, which won't happen on a 150. Might save a minute or two.

Well I can say mine has charged as high as 161. Remember the car tells the charger. 350 allows the MME to flex its muscles. It is way faster than the 150. The charging curve is different. I have had to use both on this trip and with the 350 I go from 20% to 80 % in about 35 minutes. Yes it is more expensive but it stays higher above 100 for a longer period usually until about 60%. 60-70 it is in the 90 range. 70-80 in the 79 to 84 range.

It‘s more expensive? How so? If it’s charging per minute, and it really is faster, it would be less expensive. If it’s charging per kWh the speed doesn’t impact price at all.

Hi! I'm new and happy to be here. This Mach-E is my first electric car.

I'm planning a road trip and I want to take advantage of the FordPass recommendations (in Trip Planner) of when to stop to charge, but as I look at its route with charging recommendations, it takes me down to 10% before stopping. That is just too close for comfort for my first trip. Is there a way I can tell it I want to stop sooner, maybe at 15-20%? I've been on chat and phone with Ford trying to get their help but they keep sending me to different people who don't know.

Also, does Trip Planner stay integrated to what's actually happening in the car? For example, if the battery went down more than expected would it recommend a sooner stop to charge?

Thanks in advance!
Another way to try and arrive at the next charger before 10% is to simply charge a little extra at the previous one than the route planners say. If the planner says to charge to 68% in order to make it to the next charger at 10%, just charge to 73% instead to arrive around 15%.

There use to be different charging buckets based on what your vehicle reported as it's charge rate. They simplified it quite a bit since then. If the Mach E Reported itself as a 150kW capable vehicle, you would be charged the 350 rate. There use to be a 1-150 bucket as well so if the E reported itself higher than 150 then you would have been charged the top rate. Example: EA in Texas...

Just be cautious relying very heavily on ABRP. Their model of the Mach E's consumption is very much in alpha, not even beta, testing at this point
You can always manually set your own mileage (miles/kWh) in ABRP too.

Okay, but since the price cutoff is currently 90kW, that doesn’t explain why using a 350kW capable station would be more expensive.

It is NOT more expensive. I pay the $4 per month for the charging fee. Regardless of what size charger I use it is $0.31 kWh. What the 350 does is simply charge it faster. Nothing more

NOOOOO. The price is THE SAME. The charging fluctuates constantly. Using the 350 gives you a faster charge sooner. Price on the plus plan is $0.31 no matter what charger from EA that you use

I understand that. I’m trying to figure out what you were talking about when you said it was more expensive.

Yes it is more expensive but it stays higher above 100 for a longer period usually until about 60%.

I was happy to learn ford roadside assistance includes towing vehicle to nearest charging station
Curious if that means the nearest Level 3/DCFC or just the nearest public Level 2 charger. It does include the nearest Ford dealer which will only be Level 2

I would assume whichever is closest. They're only trying to help you out when you've stranded yourself, not worry whether you'll lose a few hours at an L2 putting in just enough so you can drive it to the next DCFC.

Although we might see the emergence of more field charging in the coming years (onboard generator). That'll just be L2 too, but saves a flatbed load.
