Ford Connected Charge Station issue

I had a Ford connected charge station installed Saturday but it will not charge. When plugged in to the car the charger indicates that is charging by the pulsating blue light. But in a few seconds it goes to a solid blue line that indicates it's in standby mode. And my Ford pass app says plugged in but not charging. My app is set to charge when plugged in. I contacted ford customer service and all the technician could say was "Hmmm, that's odd. Either you have a loose connection or a bad charger." Any ideas?

Are the DIP switches properly configured? They are incorrectly labeled on the circuit board of the charger. Have you cycled power to the charger? Turn the breaker off and on. I assume home is set up as a charging location as well. Try settings as shown below rather than charge when plugged in as a test. Also, there are some issues with FP. Check your charge settings in the car on the screen.

The electrician is going to come back and check everything inside. I've turned the breaker on and off a few times. I've reinstalled the charger on the app a few times. I'm not getting any error messages or fault indicators either. Just goes to stand by.

I'll try that when I get home. Right now it says 48a and is set at 100%.

Does your car charge properly on other level 2 chargers? If so, and your electrician verifies that there is 240V on the supply terminals with the car plugged in, chances are the charger is defective.

Ok. So 48 is your rate. That’s sounds correct. You have a 60 amp breaker? Search forum for dip switches settings. On red block 0 is off and 1 is on, the circuit board is to be ignored. It is backwards.

Yes, I work at a Ford dealer so I charge on their level 2 charger all the time.

Are the dip switches set for the lower amperage setting? Worried that your electrician connected a 48amp device to a 50 amp breaker. (Code is 60amp breaker for a 48 amp device)

If it wasn't set correctly wouldn't it show an error message or a fault display(like a red light) on the charger? Not just go to standby?

I may have misread the manual but it was my understanding that any invalid dip settings default the max current to 48amps.

No - it can’t detect your breaker size. For continuous loads (which an EVSE is) the NEC limits the useable circuit ampacity to 80%. So on a 50A circuit, the EVSE should be set to 40A. In reality, the world won’t end because you draw 48A continuously on a 50A circuit, but it will run pretty hot and may cause long-term deterioration of wiring components.
If your electrician measures correct voltage, I’d almost guarantee the charge station is defective.

I would try the mobile charger that came with the vehicle, while at your home location. Even if that means using the smaller/slower 120V plug, give that a shot and see if you are having the same symptoms.

And then if you are, switch to Use Preferred Charge Settings as @Nklem suggested earlier.
