I believe any car built before June 2021 is a Job 1 car.
I think this was answered by Ford's correspondence on giving Job 1 cars a free year of Bluecruise. All cars built before 7 July 2021 are eligible. That matches my car, which was built 26 June but has Job 1 features.

The email is so vague and seemed to me to basically be sent as a CYA message from their lawyers making sure you understood that some updates may cause you to not be able to drive or lock your car.

I wonder what most owners would think about it -- I bet most expect an OTA in the next day, but that's probably far from Ford's purpose in sending it.
Well I take that back. It's nice to have your expectations so low, then it's a lovely surprise when they are exceeded. (Of course, this doesn't exactly add anything "new", it just lets me continue to keep using BlueCruise......)

Photos below in case anyone with a Job 2 car is curious about the UI for updates:

My car has been sitting at the dealer for almost a week now. It would be unfortunate if I miss an update because the car is not being driven. Are OTA updates over cellular or are they WIFI only?
They download over cellular or WiFi. Some updates can be made to download over WiFi only, but none have so far.

I got the e-mail but I don't think I've ever received an OTA update. I have a Job 2 non-GT with Blue Cruise active.

The Bluecruise map update is the first OTA for job 2 cars.

You should see it come in soon. They have to get that one out before March.

Got the email as well in Canada. I responded to them saying, if I could set a schedule after the 1.71 failure, I would gladly do it. I've alerted the dealer too to start the push to do the APIM if all else fails in Feb/March.

FORD - the car is parked right beside my router to make it quicker :(

I am still Stuck with "Failed" at 1.7.1 since early December. I hope it means that something is coming to fix that or it is a cruel joke. It could mean BC coming soon too.

yes, I got it.... and took the opportunity to replay and ask:

- How will we know which updates will freeze our MME for up to 30 minutes before we start the update?

- will we get a detailed list of fixes/enhancements of what is IN the OTA to help decide whether it is worth taking the time to update?

.... don't know if I'll get a reply, but I had to ask.

hands-free driving is not an enhancement I EVER want..... I don't think I'm too interested in this update. I generally disable auto-update, and wait for something I think is worthwhile after giving it a couple weeks to make sure it doesn't break anything.

I'd much rather see kW in/out real-time on my display for instance.

Merits of BlueCruise aside -- Ford appears to being very conservative here in its OTAs (esp in relation to, say, Brand T for example) so I think you probably have little worry that, by the time an OTA gets to your car, that it's not going to brick it or have significant bugs. We're all criticizing Ford because it hasn't delivered OTAs fast enough and is taking its time to get the OTA infrastructure working properly.... It could be much worse for us and them if they pushed software without lots of soak time to vehicles.

The question I take away from this email and Ford's previous comments is: If we have been warned that delayed entry/use is a possibility and have set up a schedule of availability, thus giving Ford permission to send data during those scheduled periods, are we more likely to get updates sent sooner or in larger increments than if we have the car set to automatic updates?

The schedule is for installing the updates, not downloading them.

GT so job 2. Got the BC update at 4:42 PM today. Hands free extended until Sep 10. That is 12 months from delivery. Thought it was 36 months?

That is just when your map expires. You'll get another map update that extends the time for another 6 months or so.

This ensures the car always has accurate Bluecruise information, and if it doesn't, it won't engage until that is fixed.
