Last knowledge I had, Trip planner is TBD atm. There's some much better stuff being thought out here. I believe it was already noted that the next generation of vehicles will have a much stronger buy into Android Automotive and Ford has a very close relationship with Google in regard. Do with that knowledge as you will.
I realize this is probably way outside your area of control, but disabling a feature now because "the next generation of vehicles will have a much stronger..." (whatever). None of us on this forum currently own the "next generation of vehicles". Trip planner on the app was very useful for us that own the current generation of vehicles.

Did it get rid of the "Charge to 100%" button, that allowed you a one time full charge, the charge status menu had? I know I couldn't find it when I was testing out the beta a month or two ago.
It is now a button labelled Start and appears in the top right hand corner in the Vehicle or Energy tabs when a vehicle is plugged in but not charging.

There are blank spaces. Is that how it's supposed to look?

My departure in this area was a while ago, but one thing I would note is without quite a bit of rollbacks and re-thinks on features that were already out there, much of what you see would have never happened.

Someone's always going to be frustrated when items are removed, but as long as the result is a better experience and foundation for having it re-introduced is far better, the wait will definitely be worth it and the end result should have far more utility for the 99%.

I don't think anyone at Ford is mentally downplaying the value of features like this. It's just a division of mission critical to get this experience out there vs what comes next.

I can't speak for Ford personally, but I do hope the update provides a better experience for the primary app's functionalities which should expand into more feature rich functionalities with the same level of TLC over time.

Have you tried "A Better Route Planner" Works very well for planning trips where you need to charge. Obviously, then you have to check the charging stops on PlugShare..... The main reason we drive the wife's Tesla for trips that require charging is that it is so much easier..though in June?, when I get my adapter, the tables will turn.

Ah, thanks! Good to know. Definitely not as clear on what it does as the old one but at least it's not hidden in the charge status.

Also, Ford is one of the few companies that has 1st class support for both Apple and Google's EV route mapping out of the box.

I am running the EA Beta of 5.0 but I can just hit the button on bottom "Previous Version" and it launches the old version of the app, and I can use trip planner there. Is that not an option anymore in this official 5.0?

Nice! For those of debating on switching over to android auto fully once our 3 years of connected Nav expires this is good to read! Between android auto and comma.ai might be able to recreate all car capabilities at a fraction of the cost.

Speaking of the charging to 100% I found the area where you could add a new target which basically it looks like it’s gonna let you, but I have a location called Home and then I choose a target as 100 and then I hit save, and this comes up, and there’s nothing you can do to get it to save. There’s no way to select a location.

I appreciate the hard work that has gone into this update. That being said, the trip planner functionality was a really helpful tool in planning for drives/days out and determining if adding stops would require charging.

While there’s other apps out there, none allow for sending trip plans to the car navigation directly. CarPlay is great but it does leave some things to be desired (cannot easily plan future/multiple trips). I hope this is something in the pipeline since the current generation of vehicles does not (and likely will not ever) benefit from next generation Android Automotive unless ford opens a hardware upgrade pathway for us (seems unlikely).

The Control button showing is for offline capabilities tied to BLE + Paak.

As for the skeleton/placeholder states, this is all connectivity driven. If this doesn't load, there's likely some sort of communications issue happening with your vehicle. This could be wifi, cell, vehicle wifi/cell, vehicle permissions, or anything in between.

This looks like the Android app -- so not my cup off tea on all the issues that could happen locally ?

No, they are in under controls.
As you don’t need to press and hold. They tucked it under a panel to avoid accidental openings.
What panel? Also, no more maps, trip planner and available (fast) chargers? You lose features and it's an improvement?
