Fordpass Remote Start issues

Had my GTPE since early October. One of the few things I’ve had issues with is the remote start. It just won’t work. I get an error message back in Fordpass “Warning: vehicle failed to start”. I’ve had this behavior since I got car.

For the first few weeks, I just went with the FOB, and have just recently set up PAAK. In either case, all the other functions(lock, unlock, frunk, trunk, etc) work just fine.

I’ve validated multiple times that remote start is turned on in my profile(even turned it off for a bit and then back on)

Anyone else have similar issues? Ideas?

I am still waiting for my Mach e however I just recently had this issues with my Lincoln MKC. It was remedied by restarting my phone. Maybe that will help ?‍

Is there cell phone coverage where you live? IIRC, remote start uses the cellular connection, while windows/door/trunks use bluetooth.

Sometimes it fais for me in FordPass. But it always seems to work correctly through the Google Assistant stuff. I made a post with setup steps if you want it on your launcher...

But if you're cool with just using your voice for this, then start by saying "ok Google, ask FordPass to start my vehicle."

I would estimate it takes 3 tries on average to get my car to start via fordpass remote start. Just keep hitting the button...have seen it take maybe 6 tries at worst.

Are you "hitting" the button or holding it??? You have to hold it for a couple seconds to work correctly...

Oh yea, good coverage. It’ll fail when I’m standing right beside the car with bluetooth connected.

Good thought. Just tried it. Car was asleep from overnight. Unlock took a few seconds but worked fine. Following successful unlock, tried remote start. Nope. Got the vehicle failed to start warning. Then locked the car back and it locked instantly.

Clearly, the app is talking to the car…

I just recently started to receive this error. I never had an issue before this week so has something changed?

Mine usually works second try once to wake it up (error) and once to start it. Send something via blue tooth (trunk or windows up and down) and then multiple remote starts as a test? Soon as it errors out hit it again quick. It may not be I am in a deep sleep issue but twice is the ticket for a number of things.

I usually have to do it twice, also. Ford hasn’t perfected the car’s response to FP remote commands. There are all kinds of problems. Most of them work eventually.

Yeah, I think it’s a problem with getting the car to wake up.

I just fixed my issue. Go to Settings>Vehicle and scroll down to Remote Start Setup. Make sure that is toggled on. Mine originally was and somehow it became deselected at sometime this week. I just toggled it back on and remote start works again
