I had my tint guy put PPF on my front bumper and hood. Looks great. As a bonus he threw in PPF for the faux grille and the gloss black pieces in the drag ducts on the nose. ??

Good story, bro.
I’ve had this guy doing all of my tints since the middle ‘90s, but I was still surprised by the bonus PPFs that he gave me. ??

Same here Steve. First vehicle I've ever had PPF done to it and was surprised how it seems to look more glossy than the fenders on each side without it. Maybe because paint now has a layer on top which gives it depth? I'm not sure. I had my metal roof wrapped in gloss black and while it was very glossy, it did not have the super shine that the PPF on the hood does. So had my tint/detail guy PPF the roof (over the gloss black wrap) and now it looks as glossy as the hood.

Here is a photo of the edge of my hood/fender with garage light reflection. Can you tell which one is which?

Left is fender, I think. It’s immediately curved. And the radius of the aluminum is larger than the hood for some reason.

The guy who PPF-ed the front end of my two Mach-Es is very expensive. I opted to do partial hood, fender and fender flare. On my ‘22 Iced Blue Silver I could see the line very clearly. On the Glacier Gray I can’t. I know it’s there and can feel it but it takes a very specific angle to be able to detect it.

Yes fender is on the left. ?

I’m sold on PPF now that I’ve gotten it. Resisted it for years. I have my cars ceramic coated (Ceramic Pro) but from now on going to also PPF the front end. My entire hood is done and wrapped around so no lines. Complete front bumper including all black areas, headlights and spoiler except the louvered area for air intake. Bumper PPF stops where it meats the fender. Didn’t have him do the fenders. My last two cars only had chips on the hood and bumper. He used Ceramic Pro KAVACA PPF. Total cost was $1400 and worth it.

See mine was $2,500 for partial hood and fender but included bumper, b- and c-pillars piano black trim, and mirrors. It took a long time to do given how curvy the GT bumper is. All done in xpel and looks amazing. The full frontal would have been $3,200.

Too expensive in SoCal to have it PPF for me IMO. Quoted me $6k from decent review yelp place for the full front end. I ended up ordering the 3M PPF online precut and did it myself for the first time. Cost $1,500 for PPF and few bucks for tools. Learned it from YouTube and took the whole weekend. I even detailed and paint corrected prior to slapping on the PPF. I rated my work 6 out of 10 on the hood because I didn’t have an extra hand to lay it out and it was my very first piece to work on but would have been the easiest. I rated the rest of my work 8 to 8.5 out of 10. The place that precut the PPF was amazing, very detailed. I wanted to say the whole front end is 95% covered. I just left out the front lip on the GT because it was too difficult and I got tired by the end of the project. Overall I would not hesitate to do it again if or whenever it starts to peel. I’m obviously not a baller and cannot earn $4,500 from 2 days of working for me to justify paying that much for labor.

I had the same done on mine: Full hood, front bumper. He threw in the grille and drag ducts for free. He said he did the drag ducts because he’d never done those before on a GT and wanted to get the experience. He didn’t do the semi-flat area below the front bumper or the splitter. I also never got chips in the fenders, just on the bumper and leading edge of the hood, so I figured these would be the areas to cover. ??

I got quotes on PPF on my 2021, and around here they ranged from kind of expensive to “holy smokes I can’t afford that!” I never got it done on my 2021 because everyone said they needed the car for a whole week. For my 2024 I went to my tint guy and just had him do it. He said he could now do it in 2 half day sessions. He ended up charging me about $500 less than he quoted me back in 2021, so win-win for my 2024. ??

I forgot to mention he did my black rear view side mirror covers also. I’m super happy.

I was thinking of having those done. My 2021 never got damage to those so I decided to not do them at this time. I might mess around and do those myself just to get the experience. ??

Had PPF put on my front end and hood and ceramic coated the rest for 3K in Rhode Island. I had a small rock chip on the hood with minor paint damage with less than 1k miles, and decided it needed protection. It looks great and can't really see a difference between the PPF and the ceramic coating where they meet at the front door.
BTW, Was told not to use a car wash after having the PPF applied. Is that generally understood to be true?

I normally don’t go through car wash on my cars regardless of PPF/Ceramic coat. I do pressure washed mone and foam canon on my cars and scrubs parts that are PPF. I was told touch less car wash are ok.
