We've been through lots of speculative rounds on why the divider was added. But none of us know the reason yet.

It adds less cost than other features that many customers also won't use, such as dash cam or YouTube.
I agree we don't know why, but I disagree with your cost assessment. This is probably $3 a car including supplier pricing, shipping, and assembly labor - assume 50,000 Mach-E's a year over a typical 6 year vehicle production life and this frunk divider add just spent $900,000. Pretty sure you could code saving the dashcam to USB for less. But that's a fake either/or proposition to begin with.

I thought I was done uploading pictures from San Tan Ford, but I managed to recover two that appeared to be corrupted in my phone.

VIN number:

Some of the lamps inside rear hatch (yes, another pony too).

Those look LED and not incandescent - nice

Hmm... that VIN is very very early, which I guess makes sense that this is likely a prototype that's been massaged to look perfect for shows, just like an auto show car.

Makes me skeptical that that frunk divider story is over though. Something's up.

A small human can fit in there. There is a push button release inside, with an enormous glow in the dark rectangle around it.

I like the divider and will probably leave it in.
I am likely to leave it in too - unless I find a use for a larger space and that has to be in the frunk and not in the back

I saw it today and was surprised that the ring around the button is what glows. Previously I thought the button itself glowed but this one was black plastic or rubber.

I did not take a picture of it though. (Sorry, I meant to but forgot.)
Here is a picture from today of the light on top and the glowing button just below it. Hope this helps.

Yeah this angle shows the frunk size to be much smaller than all previous pictures - glad all of you got a chance to see in person.

I'll most likely replace those screws with wingnuts or a velcro strip for easy removal.
Velcro is almost as useful as duck tape. When I used to do wedding photography I used it all the time- from securing a handy cover over the buttons on the side of my lenses to attaching my radio triggers and strips of colored gel to my flashes it was super handy.

The only problem is that the adhesive backing will get soft in prolonged summer heat, so it might not be the best solution for the frunk divider.

Remember the good old days? The days where we wondered if we would get that neat frunk organizer or have to pay for it as an aftermarket from the dealer? My how times change.

The big Frunk mistery... gives us something the debate about while waiting for the car.

It was a great experience, wish all of you could have been there. Back to the frunk, I can see putting a short grocery run in there, or a small carry-on item, but a cooler would have to be narrow to fit.
