According to the door my MME was built 10/20. So my understanding is that it is a Job 1. The Frunk Button showed up the other day, but it is greyed out and doesn't seemed to work. Does anyone know what the next step is to get it to work? Is there a setting I need to change to enable the button? Or maybe it will never work on my MME based on the year.

Sorry, I should have mentioned, the Frunk soft button showed up in the center screen, right next to the Trunk button.

Is the car in Park?

If you press the emergency release button inside the frunk, do you hear it release? If not, you need your BCM and GFM modules updated.

Weird. I have a job 1 (assembled 12/20 into 1/21) and still no soft button for the frunk in the vehicle... but I can open the frunk via FordPass or the door keypad.
Interesting. Thanks for the responses. I have no button on my Ford pass, maybe I need to update the Ford Pass app.
How do you open using the door key pad? A special numeric code?
When I press the emergency release button inside the frunk, I do not hear a release sound. So will pursue with the dealer to have the BCM and GFM modules updated. Hopefully at no cost.

Enter your door unlock code followed by the 7-8 button. But if the emergency release button doesn't work, the door code isn't going to work either.

The door pad method of opening the frunk is <door code> followed by the 7-8 button IIRC. The thing is that unless your job 1 car was updated by the dealer (or you via FDRS), it won't work. neither will the frunk button on FP (which you shouldn't be seeing unless it was updated). Try the suggestion made earlier and press the emergency button in the frunk and see if the thing makes a noise. If it does, it was updated (by a dealer at some point, perhaps while doing other work). If not, the icon on FP is a gremlin.

The button will be greyed out on the center screen if you turn off the car. The button is active if the car is in park and on, or the accessories are active. This is different than the hatch which is available until you open the door

If there is no button in the FP app and you have not had someone update the GFM and BCM via FDRS, you will need to have those two modules updated by someone. As of right now, those two modules do not have an OTA update that addresses them. ?‍♂?

Update number for the GFM and BCM via FDRS is what? We should be able to tell the service department this other than to say update the frunk opening.

You just need to tell them that they need to update the BCM (Body Control Module) and the GCM (Generic Function Module). FDRS is the software they use to update the car (among other things). If there is a forum member in your vicinity with an FDRS rig (computer, power supply, interface module, super high-speed USB storage) they can do this as well. You might have to bribe the forum member with doughnuts (my favorite method of bribery for these updates). ??

You can ask your dealer to update the GFM and BCM to the current versions. If they whine, explain that you’re requesting the update to enable the frunk release. You can also ask if they can run the Frunk Release procedure in FDRS which will enable the button on the center screen.

I would have thought dog treats would also be acceptable ?
