It is on the SYNC screen, but yes, a physical button would be more convenient. Designing a physical switch for the frunk release is feasible, but as Mark notes, it wouldn't be a simple momentary switch like many of us have for the liftgate. The issue is that Ford (rightly) went through considerable design to make sure the likelihood of the hood opening during normal driving is very low. There's a double latch that would need to be activated. Someday I might try to make something for it, but it would be DIY even beyond my trunk lighting project.
I have a 2021 GT that has the foot swipe trunk open. I would sure like a foot swipe frunk open. I would use it all the time.

The 2025 Mach-E fobs have a frunk button as well. they might be compatible with earlier cars.
They are. I posted a photo and part number of the new Mach-E fob earlier in this thread and have already programmed it to a '24 Mach-E (not mine). I kept the Lightning fob I originally programmed for my '21 and now use it on my '24.

I have the rear bumper sensor on my '21 premium as well. Most of the time it is a great feature, but these times it is a nuisance:
  • If I try to close the liftgate "too soon" with a swipe it just ignores me. When "sufficient time" has passed it works as advertised. It seems to need a minute or more to settle. (?)
  • A few of times it seemed to open on its own in silence. Once in my garage after it was parked with the garage door down. I got in the car to leave the next day not realizing the liftgate was opened and put in a 6in. scar backing out against the garage door lever that was now open.
  • It always seems to open on its own when I hand wash the car and am mainly in the rinse cycle.
  • Recently I was touch-up-painting the above mentioned scar and the liftgate popped open to my surprise in the middle of that operation.
I get why being more conservative with the way the frunk operates is more critical being in the front of the vehicle. Already having 4 ways to open the frunk is sufficient enough for me.

It cannot be done safely. That is why I said you cannot have a physical frunk switch. Pushing the button in the frunk opens the hood NO MATTER IF THE CAR IS LOCKED, UNLOCKED OR MOVING. I have tried it. Unless Ford changed something since '21, you cannot extend that switch to the inside. Not safe.
Hmm, they have a special relay module specifically to cut power to the release motor when the car is in motion as a fail safe. It should definitely ring bells on the cluster if the inside button is pressed, but I don’t think the hood should actually open until you stop.

I will change the “car in motion” to car in Drive. I didn’t actually drive the car but did take it out of park, put into drive and the hood would still open. Unlike the rear liftgate where you have to be in park with the doors unlocked before it will open. When I get back home Tuesday, I’m going to try it out again in my ‘24.

I pushed the button in the frunk, out of curiosity, now I get the "Frunk system fault. Service required“ message on the dashboard. How do I get rid of it? Do I have to go into a Ford dealer?

That should go away after a few starts/drives. If not I would disconnect the 12V battery for 10 minutes or so.

I got a message, not requiring service, but just that frunk button was pressed on dash but pressing OK cleared it.

If there’s a service message sounds like something is faulty and an issue with a faulty part was triggered by use of button.

Hope you’re soon sorted.

I opened the frunk manually and then closed it. The warning did not return after doing so.
I started the car several times before opening the frunk & the warning kept appearing.
The now obvious response was to just open & close the frunk.
