Pricing came out today.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/other/hyundai-ioniq-5-pricing-starts-at-39-700/ar-AARMsoN

That top trim, with the extra's it gives you, very much gives the MME premium and below a run. It'll take the EV6, or GV60 to have a shot at the GT's however.

Personally, if I could get one I'd probably buy it over the MME I have on order. It's got a couple of things I want that the MME doesn't. However, the Hyundai dealer experience is likely to make you wish you were dealing some of this forums more famous denizens as the Kia/Hyundai dealership network is routinely rated worst among equals.

There is a lot to like with the new Hyundai, especially the potential for much faster charging, but I still wouldn't even consider trading in my Mach-E for it.

Reading their press release, Hyundai is providing 3 years of complementary maintenance. Great, right? Well the press release says it's for "oil changes and tired rotations". I guess someone from Hyundai forgot to delete the "oil changes" part lol

There's also this to make up for it,

Unlimited 30-minute charging sessions for two years on Electrify America’s growing network of chargers

Many of us will never, or rarely, like perhaps once a year, use any charger other than the L2 at home. Charging speed is a non-issue for many EV owners, despite the press making a huge deal of it. I personally couldn't care less.

Really, I've had my MME three weeks and already used a fast charger 4 times. And No, wasn't on a road trip.....

Ioniq 5 has the best looking design of the EVs imo. I'd take it's high end trim over MME premium. The other trims can't beat MME select for value and performance.

I think the Hyundai is a damn good looking car with some features that I really like. I absolutely love the style of the thing.

The lack of storage is a bummer, that frunk should just be a second glove box. I'm also not all that thrilled with their displays. Dunno, some reason I just don't care for it. My wife has a 2020 Hyundai Sonata Limited and I find their display to be snappy, but feels out dated to me. The MME feels a little more up to date, but its sluggish and laggy.

There's defiantly some advantages, but I don't know if I would trade in the MME for it. I don't care about DCFC, but 2yrs of 30 minute charging is pretty crazy. I'm assuming that car would do 20% to 100% pretty easy in a 30 minute window. For those that are road warriors, that might be a HUGE benefit.

Who knows, maybe the wife will trade in her Sonata down the road at some point. Although I don't know if we are really ready for a EV only family.. Plus my wife can't drive for ? Already been kicked off one insurance, and just got into another accident a few weeks ago......... Think I'm going back to buying her used cars...

If you aren't on a road trip, why would you use it, other than just to see if it works? Or to get your 250khw free from Ford. I could test mine at the local Wal-Mart, but, you know, Wal-Mart...

What are you talking about? I fast charged at a Walmart and was only approached by 3 meth heads.

I've owned my MME for 9 months and still have never tried DCFC. I can't even use my free 500kWh since there are no EA stations in my state. We'll see if I end up going on a road trip before they expire.

I suppose people who live where they don't have access to an overnight charger might want to use it (apartments, condos), or people who have yet to install an L2 charger and need some quick juice. I was the latter up until a few months ago, though during my 3 years with my Bolt, I only used a fast charger once (to get it from Nashville to Memphis).

Could be the promise of faster charging convinces people who can't charge at home to take the EV plunge, knowing they can top off once a week "quickly."

I suppose so, but I couldn't imagine buying an EV if I had no way to charge at home. To me it defeats the whole purpose. Maybe years from now the infrastructure would make that viable. To each their own.
