Hello!
Hope I'm posting in the right area of the forum.

Our August-2022 MME GT appears to have an outdated GPS map (built-in navigation system).
Today, it attempted to take us to no longer existing exits and roads that have been closed due to long-term construction. Finally we took a road we know but didn't exist in the navigation system (we were nowhere according to it).
Is it expected that the system keeps up with road closures, changed exits etc? We typically use CarPlay "Waze" but wanted to try out the built-in GPS.
I've emailed my POC at the dealer. Waiting for a response.

Meanwhile: How may I receive an update for the GPS data or force-update the GPS?
OTA updates is set to Automatic.
Vehicle is programmed with my local WiFi.

Built-in navigation maps get updated far less frequently than the maps done by Google/Waze, Apple, etc. Typically built-in maps are updated annually and even then, they’re often working with outdated map data. You can’t force the refresh; Ford will update the maps by push to your vehicle when they have new ones available, at least as long as you’re covered by the connected navigation. They’ll be updating them fairly regularly due to BlueCruise anyway, so with luck, it will be better than the typical annual cycle.

If you want the latest maps all the time, stick with Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze.

@JohnnyForensic and @RickMachE thank you both.
Ours does't have BlueCruise but I hope the GPS data will get updated at some point.
We'll continue to use Waze via Carplay.

As stated, you'll likely see an annual map update, and the update will be about a year old when you get it. So a road change made known to the map data supplier in 2020 will be in your car by 2022...

Ford is notorious for using 2 year old map data in all new vehicles. This year they started doing 6 month updates for Sync 3. The second half of the year will be "NA20 2" for this year. The Mach E is supposed to update more frequently in theory but in practice it doesn't.

My 911 I bought in April gets a map update once every 7-14 days. I've had literally like 10 OTA updates on my 911 since I bought it. Impressive. All seamless and in the background I just get a notification it updated. One point to Ford though their routing is better. I notice the 911 picks the dumbest ways to get places for a 'connected nav' system.

Surely this isnt about map updates but routes that cannot be used, i.e. traffic issues, I would have thought that the maps would have traffic issues flagged routinely

@breeves002 thank you as well. @hb45 there is a road 1 year old nearby. It is not showing in the built-in map. So if Ford is really only using 2 years old data, I might only see that new road next year.

So what do you guys use for trip where you want to know your charging stations along the way while using Waze or Google Maps for actual navigation?

My 2022 Mach-E map is missing neighborhood roads that have been in existence for 40 years. These roads are shown on the Sync 3 nav on my 2018 and 2020 ford. I assume the source for the maps is different in Sync 4 though.

Apple Maps has it built in now. I will also use ABRP to figure out where I'm going to stop then put it in. For long trips the built in navigation is fine almost always. I usually just use that for getting from major city to major city.

A Better Route Planner, then check each location with PlugShare.

@breeves002 good to know Apple Maps has it. It will be my alternative via Carplay. So for long trips built-in seems OK?
@RickMachE understood, agreed.

You'll have to enable it in Apple Maps. There are YouTube tutorials on it its a simple process.
