If older people want to have a place to drink where they can feel comfortable their hair color, that's OK with me.

Ok; thanks for the opinions. I’m in. Found a carbonized gray metallic GTPE with midnight pony package or something like that. Anyway, getting it on Friday.
Post pictures when you get it.

You will love it! Until your first public charge. ?

I have situation where I have a problem with grey bars. When my battery is low on the freeway.
I live where it’s very cold. I have grey bars almost always. Lots of them. But my work commute doesn’t involve freeways. But sometimes work does require longer drives that have freeways. Then on the way home my battery it low AND it’s cold. Lots and lots of grey bars. On ramps for me mean accelerating quickly. When it’s super cold, and my battery is already low, I may run out of acceleration before I’ve reached the speed I want for proper merging. THAT is when I am annoyed.

Tbh, it’s pretty terrible with any EV…., problem is there’s not enough chargers, they are not typically properly maintained and it’s just not fun.

well the tesla thing might change this a little but of course there are a lot of issues around that - how many SCs will have CCS connectors, whether the SC cords will be long enough to park normally, etc.

Opinions; Are the gray bars a problem for you?
I live in Missouri, too. I picked up my GTPE in early November 2022, so I don’t have any summer experience. I’ve never run into power limits or grey bars. If I’m not paying attention to my speed and the highways around St. Louis have light traffic, I’ll be going 90 without realizing it.

I picked the PE because GT was the only trim left when I ordered, and I really love the tires and the interior on the PE. I’m happy and have to regrets.

I’m not a car person and I’ll never drive my PE on a track, and I love almost everything about it. My only real complaints are FordPass and the in car software, which plague all trim lines.

Once I got used to how the car performs, I stopped paying attention to the grey bars. I wish the things that limit power at speeds and loads weren't a factor, but they are, so you just have to get used to it.

I don't look at the bars now, but that doesn't stop me from wishing the car would do the things it ought to be able to do. That said, if you have the proper expectations it can exceed them all.

I live in NorCal and I’ve had my GT for 18 months. I honestly have no idea what a grey bar is or means. I’ve never experienced one. So, no, I don’t think it’s an issue at all.

I’ll also point out there is a small but dedicated group of MME owners on these boards who make it their life mission to bag on the car because of the five-second limitation. However, I t’s only a limitation if you treat public roads like they are closed tracks. If you only want to go zero to 60 in under three seconds or top out at -150 MPH, the MME will suit you fine.

Super short: NO.

longer answer: I have almost 10K miles on my GTPE. The Grey bars are a total NON issue for me. I will see 1-2 show up periodically-but it has never been a problem-or even noticed from the pedal.

With that said, if you are wanting to drive this car on a race track all the time-it could be an issue. However, if your main use is driving the car on a daily basis with occasional spirited driving (like what I do) I suspect you would never be troubled by it.
Being a auto enthusiast the GTPE is a excellent auto cross car. It's got a .99 skid pad rating which is killer for auto cross .

The GTPE is a fun to drive car for sure.
How does unbridled extend work for the Autocross track? Do you feel the extended but limited power mode works for Autocross? I would think that Autocross would be optimal for unbridled extended. (Vs a high speed road course or drag strip).

So now you have the car...before concerns versus after reality....what are your thoughts now?

I love this car!
Did you share pictures? I would love to see what you got.

Here's the GTPE that I got last November.
