I'm looking into going smaller on wheel diameter on my non-PE GT. Several reasons-decrease unsprung weight, more wheel options in 5x108, more tire model availability, etc. How small in diameter can I go? I'm pretty sure a 19 should be easy, but can I go down to an 18? Not sure that will fit over the brakes. Everyone wants to go bigger, and I'm wanting to be the odd man out. Thanks!

I believe all brakes are the same with the exception of the GTPE* - so you should be able to fit OEM 18” w/o issue. Or other clearance verified 18” rims.

I downsized to 18" on my GT for winter set up. I wanted less unsprung weight, more sidewall and a skinnier tire for snow. I mounted Alutec Monstr's (18x7.5) that weigh around 22lbs a piece. I've been very happy with them. Tirerack and Discount Tire will show you downsized wheels that fit the GT.
