My Mach-e has been at the dealer for five weeks with a battery problem. The "Reduced Powertrain Malfunction" and "High Voltage Battery Warning" messages popped up when I was picking up my car after the HVJB replacement. The car has been sitting at the dealer for five weeks and the dealer has indicated that Ford is not communicating with them. I'm getting the feeling that Ford regards the Mach-e as a failure and is focused in other areas.

I have had my Mach-e for 3 1/2 years but I don't want to own an "orphan" car. I'm not in love with Teslas but I think they might be the only manufacturer that can be trusted to not walk away from the category.

No idea what's really going on, but I know in 2020 when cars were scarce Ford told dealers they had to invest a significant amount of money for charger infrastructure and pass training to be "authorized" to sell the hot new EVs (all new cars were scarce then)

They've since backtracked almost all of it, so I can see how dealers are sour on Ford regarding EVs in general. Add to that all the political drama and I feel like most dealers see EVs as nothing but headaches. So while it's possible Ford is ignoring your dealer, I'm sure your dealer isn't motivated to press for resolution either since it's not their primary knowledge area.

If you have any other dealers nearby I'd consider calling them and explaining your situation and see if they are more receptive to getting your car addressed.

@jarofny, there are some dealers who absolutely despise EVs and want nothing to do with them, even those they sold. They can and do drag their feet and some of those few go do far as to intentionally strand the cars. Find another dealer, call the EV help line and report your dealer.

What is the EV help line? The dealer does have a EV F-150 on the lot. They seemed really receptive to working on the car.

Have them schedule a conference call with you and the appropriate escalation manager at Ford. Then you will know who is taking what action to fix your car. This issue should be covered under the 8 year/100k miles warranty. Have them commit to a repair date or buy-back process.

Some vehicles with the same issue will get exemplary service/repairs.
Some will get average.
Others will get below average. (sadly the statistical norm)
And then the horror stories.

All were manufactured by Ford.
All were serviced and repaired at a dealership. Yet amazing inconsistency.

I personally believe what determines which experience takes place isn't the brand or the dealership. Rather it's the person(s) involved. It's people that either care or don't. Are held accountable or aren't.

I had a 2013 Fusion that took 6 weeks for its transmission to be rebuilt. This was at a big dealer in the Chicago area, and this was in 2018. So no, sometimes dealers just suck.

Also, Tesla will absolutely walk away on things on someone's whim. Maybe not on the vehicle entirely, but things like firing an entire team foundational to the brand's success doesn't seem like the work of a stable organization, either.

I had a similar experience. Did the HVBJB recall and on the drive home got “Stop Safely Now.” Turns out they damaged a couple of the wiring harnesses during the repair. It took about 6 weeks to get it fixed because of parts availability Or lack thereof. Ford apparently doesn’t stock some parts for the MME. They just get them made as they need them. The upside was that they gave me an MME loaner for the entire time.

Ford hasn’t given up on the Mach-E as a whole, but I doubt we will see anything like a gen 2 this decade. They said they would be doing incremental updates, and I think that is exactly what they will do. The body will remain much the same for the rest of the decade, and it most likely will be iconic in the future. It’s also the second best selling crossover EV in the U. S.

Yes, they have given up on the MME, or at least from what the rumor mill says there will be no Gen2 car. Sad, because it’s Ford’s best BEV offering. ??

Well Ford did improve on the MME for 2024. So it's not like Ford has given up on it yet.
The dealership model needs to go or heavily reimagined. Too much overhead and sales nonsense.

The bigger question is whether Ford has given up on EV in general. Ford and GM have back pedaled on the EV push. Frankly in the EV domain, it's really Tesla and Chinese brands that are leading. Instead of spending money on R&D, these legacy makers spent on lobbying governments to put up walls. Why compete when you can monopolize? Regardless, GM and Ford are becoming less relevant in the global modern automotive marketspace.

With Escape production ending 1/1/2026, Ford will need a replacement, probably a small EV truck, that skunkworks team is working on. So, EVs aren't going away. We'll see new battery technology coming online, new hybrids, and extended range EVs (EREV's).

From Auto Forecast Solutions:

Auto Forecast Solutions says that the next-gen Mach-E will come out in April, 2028. The next-gen Maverick in 2031. Go to the 9:14 mark.
