Heat Pump Performance - Anything to Report?

So I’m speaking for the whole world of pre-2025 MME owners who, if like me, are anxious to know how Ford’s Heat Pump in the 2025 MME is performing now that colder water is descending upon the country. Is it providing adequate comfort? And how is cold weather range being reported by the GOM compared to the car in warmer weather, and of course, how has the actual driven range been affected? So 2025 owners, please keep adding to this thread as you can; inquiring minds want to know!

Set on hi gives you sauna like temps inside. Can't really speak to difference it makes in range as I've only had to use occasional defrost so far this winter.

Car gets plenty toasty as far as heat goes. Have noticed a nice drop off in range. Purchased my car in September and was getting about 230-240 on 90% charge. So far I haven't gotten over 200 and the mileage drops quickly while driving. I'm in Michigan and have a GTPE.

That's about a 17% drop (200/240). I think that is a bit more favorable than the resistive heaters, but it's only December 4.

The Mach-E's 2025 heat pump is a real asset for winter: it provides good thermal comfort without draining the battery like a conventional heater. In everyday use, this means you can get through mild winters without sacrificing battery life. However, it's not a perfect solution for extreme cold or intensive use.

I kept fairly complete records of range for my 2021 Mach-E, so I will have a good basis of comparison for my 2025 Mach-E. First bit of data is mildly discouraging in regard to range: for the week of November 2 - December 3, when it's been quite cool in East Tennessee (lows in upper 20s, highs in mid 40s), range (between charges) was about 240 miles. For my 2021 MEE for the week of November 24, 2022 - December 3, range was about 225. Sorry that I didn't note the temperature in 2022. So the heat pump seems to have helped some. At the end of the heating season, I plan to publish a more complete comparison.

For information, the operation of the heat pump seems OK. It doesn't start blowing warm air in force for a few seconds after turning on the car. Only bug-a-boo is that the AC indicator on the main sync screen comes on sometimes. Not sure why. I turn it off immediately.

I concur with the prior reports. Very good heat produced much faster that any ICE car I have had in the past. I doubt it uses any more power than the AC does. After all, it uses the same process moving heat. Only difference is in takes heat from outside and moves it in, vs. summer AC moving heat from the inside and moving it out.
What little range drop I see I attribute to the cold weather, not the operation of the heat pump.

This is exactly my situation, though I live in Northern VA. I have records for my 2021 and am keeping track of my 2025. So far the range has been reducing a comparable amount (from 240 or so to 210 or so at 90% - note, my highest range was in October when I did not use AC or heat, even though the exterior temperature was a bit lower. Also note that I used the seat heater and steering wheel heater when making this comparison - I will also attempt w/o those items on), but I don't think I have enough cold weather yet to make a definitive judgement. As for the comfort level, I have been pleasantly surprised that the heat provides warmer air than expected and makes for a comfortable cabin quickly.

I will report back again later in December.

Agreed. I see closer to a 30% drop from summer to winter.

If the heat pump made a significant difference in the range, Ford would be promoting it much more in the literature. I would assume due to the silent introduction it's not huge.

30% is a steep hit, not unique to the mme though. This is really just of academic interest to me. Winter temperatures in upcountry Hawaii Island drop into the upper 40s for a few early morning hours in January and February, but that's it. There's not much of a range hit when the daily temperature during the coldest part of the year is the low 50s to low 60s or so.

I like snow ... from afar.

Using the GOM for this will not give accurate results. The mi/kwh is a better way to analyze. Yesterday I was on the NYS Thruway, 25 degrees f, going 70mph I was getting 2.6 mi/kwh with the heat off. I then turned the heater on and after 10 minutes I was getting 2.4 mi/kwh. This is consistent with what I have seen in my 4 years of ownership. I don't think the heatpump will be that impact full especially when it get really cold as it will be operating more like resistance heat.

It will be really interesting to see how this plays out, but I think that in fact just the nature of the battery chemistry and the fact that in the winter you get more drag from colder air and maybe winds are factors a heat pump isn't going to affect.
