I do hate the surveys that don’t actually want honest feedback - airlines, car rental companies, internet service providers, car dealers. When anything less than a 5, or a 10, depending on the scale, is failure - that’s just stupid.

I did a test drive at this same dealership. Terrible experience. They wouldn't even provide a bottle of water until you ask for it. The salesperson talking with me initially ran away right before the test drive just because he has some other stuff to do...
My dealer had a Starbucks coffee dispenser that did individual brewed coffees. Very good coffee. That why I visited them daily, 120 times, asking updates on my order.

Maybe 150 times. I brought my own cup to do doubles.

Ugh, here we go with the “all dealers suck” chant again - so tedious and lazy. I had a great dealer and I think the majority of folks here would say theirs were at least decent to work with.

But I also followed Forum Rule #1 for Newbies when I joined last summer: Have your dealer put “no adm” in writing!

@Richcruz121 - It sounds like you actually got off easy compared to other folks here that didn’t get it in writing, had dealers that wouldn’t budge on adm, and then had to decide whether to pay or walk away. And the rest of your hassles seemed due more to incompetence and inattention, not malevolence.

Frustrating - hell yeah, especially the door ding that the dealer will obviously need to fix. But “horrific”? Maybe that’s a California definition.
I know, you’re right! Haha. That’s why i called it my rant.

Well remember this....In my 45 years of purchasing vehicles I have never met a dealership that was honest and did not suck. Not just Ford dealers, all of them are crooks and will try every trick and tell every lie to get a extra buck. In my opinion, hell is populated by car sales managers.....and lawyers of course....lol
You forgot politicians?

For my GTPE purchase I had to give a low rating on my survey and boy did that wake them up. They owed me money and didn’t cough it up until I torched them.
Awful experience and I’ll never buy a car from them again.
Interesting that they coughed up the money AFTER you already filled out the survey. I would have thought they would have more incentive to pay you before you filled it out. But either way glad you got your money!

Galpin Ford. Zero issues. No mark ups. I did 99% online. Signed ipad at dealer to finalize. I was out the door in 55 minutes from beginning to end. We inspected Mach-E and off i went.

I got my Wife a VW ID4 down the street at Galpin VW. There was different. they sales person wss great. Finance guy tried to push a couple add ons. We shut it down.

Zero marks ups at either dealer

A lot of people at dealerships suck. I've been in the fleet business for some years. I know many dealership people in SoCal. I know some owners. I can say without a doubt that most dealerships will take what they can whenever they can. It's the nature of the business.

The level of content has nothing to with what a dealership does but what the threshold is of the customer. Some people are okay with lower levels of treatment or paying more/receiving less. On the opposite end, there are customers with unrealistic expectations which we do see often.

But your "rant" should not be minimized. This does happen and should be represented in this forum. Anyone throwing out the "here we go again" should think about this. It's true that occurrences like this exact scenario do not happen often, which is exactly why it should be posted here for us to discuss.

I think you did the right thing. Thanks for the heads up.

FYI, waiting for a pre-ordered black Mach-e california. I'm being asked to pay $3k over MSRP. Compared to some other local dealers (i.e. Long Beach asking for $16k over for a Select), I guess I should be happy only paying that much over. Lol.

It shouldn't be. I've only seen one report of a loose nut on the jump post. That's one too many, but not enough to suggest you're likely to see it with your car.
I want the entire 12V tested and tightened. Based on multiple disaster reports here (Yes, overall probably statistically low), the avoidable 12V problems is the Achilles heel of the MME. dead and loose 12 Vs is a problem so simple to avoid.

If you tell the dealer you want “the entire 12V tested and tightened“, they will just stare at you blankly. Almost all of the reported 12V issues here have ended up not being 12V issues in the end. If the car starts, the 12V battery is likely fine.

I agree, anything I asked the service dept to check which is not broken will draw a blank stare. What have been some of the root causes of what was believed to be 12V issues? From what I recall, some of the dead car stories required a 12V jump or replacement to bring the car back from the dead.

Most have been a problem with the HVBJB. The dead 12V battery was a result of the issue, not the cause of it.

I should have been more precise in my own rant, thank you for causing me to see that. My problem was with the premise that all dealers suck. And all lawyers, and all politicians - and that they’re all the main inhabitants of hell.

I know it’s all a well-worn “joke” but the civic culture in this country is so broken and ugly and mean right now, I guess I’m just sensitive to gross stereotypes, whether they’re about something serious like racial identity or more trivial like car dealers. But if you had a brother who was a dealership sales manager, would you tell him and everyone in your family that he sucks and is going to hell? I know, relax, it’s a “joke”…
