I am an average weight, average height man but have not found the right configuration of the driver seat in my Mach E.

I've owned or driven dozens of cars, including the most basic of cheap ones, and never had such trouble getting comfortable. Part of the issue is likely that I am decades older. OTOH, while I am still instantly comfortable in my 18 year old Dodge Magnum, I cannot get the seat adjustments just-right in my Mach E. I feel either too crunched like sitting in a Muskoka chair or like I'm being tipped out and need to readjust my butt with every full stop.

There are 2 adjustments my Magnum has which the Mach E does not; front seat tilt and adjustable foot pedals. I have a hard time believing they are critical, but maybe they are. The lacking front seat tilt adjustment does seem strangely missing in a car as expensive as the Mach E. (Mine is a Select. Maybe the Premiums have better seats.)

How do people get comfortable in the driver seat of this car? Maybe my technique is all wrong and others have better 1-2-3 steps of adjustment that I should follow.

Technique? I've put almost 26,000 miles on Mach-Es (2021 then 2022), and can't say I have one. Should I have one?

I also think it's inappropriate to put things here like "I scootch my butt against the back of the seat, then wiggle a bit so my butt cheeks... " ?

I push my seat all the way aft, lowered down all the way, and recline quite a bit. Mine is a '22 Select AWD.

No but you could tell them to read the manual - I am sure it explains how to set the seat (I am actually being serious.)

I'm 6'3" and put the seat all the way down and all the way back. The seat back is set at an average recline. Works for me.

I am of average height and weight as well and have no problem with finding an easy, comfortable seat position. I have an '23 Premium so I have set the position with the buttons on the door once and have never needed to change anything.

I just sit my happy behind down, belt in, and drive. The seat back is kind of hard on the tail, but otherwise it’s great. ?‍♂?

Typically I don't.
I'm 240lbs of person and all of 5' 10
My Prem annoyed me as I drove it off the lot. But that's turned out to be a bit of a blessing as it painfully points out the fact I'm not sitting up straight in the seat as the right side bolster pushes on my back.
The GTPE's hit my right tricep. No matter what I do that stupid shoulder thing is like a baguette to the back of the arm.
I havn't sat in a normal GT and don't want to as I'll never upgrade to one.
I broke my tailbone 4 years ago. I have to get 'just right' or I get to pay for it for weeks if doing a long trip. (My RX450H destroys my tailbone in about 30 minutes and it's got 3 times more adjustments than the MME)
I have no earthly idea what the back seat is like but I have sat in the frunk a bit.

I've thought about keeping my Prem, and getting GTPE seats, for the price it's totally a dumb Idea. I thought about getting normal GT seats if the back bolster is like the GTPE, but again, for the price, totally dumb idea. Sadly as everything in this car is $~3k to mess with from another trim my option was upgrade, but that's ~$20k so not high on the list at this point.

I have a Select also and it doesn't have adjustable head rests which caused some discomfort in the seat for me at first. It did take a few weeks of fiddling with all the possible seat adjustments, also I tried a lumbar support pillow. But I've apparently adapted because the car feels perfectly comfortable to me now (no lumbar support needed.)

My car has 8-way powered front seats and unless I am suddenly high, they do include tilt adjustments.

@HuntingPudel also seems to spend quite a bit of time in the frunk.?

With respect to another post, I believe all Mach-E power seats to date have the same adjustments and the 8 ways of the current seat are: up, down, fore, aft, tilt ahead, tilt back, lumbar up, & lumbar back. The advance information in other threads of this forum indicates that 10 way seats are upcoming on next year's model which, it is assumed, will bring the base tilt option.

Sorry that you publically displayed your intelligence. I'd feel bad for you, but some lessons need to be learned the hard way. Obviously (perhaps not for you) I was looking for what seat adjustments people apply first, second, and third to get a good set-up. I've read every page of the user manual, cover-to-cover, thanks.

Nope. The 8 adjustments are:
  1. Up
  2. Down
  3. Forward
  4. Backward
  5. Backrest tilt ahead
  6. Backrest tilt back
  7. Lumbar up
  8. Lumbar down
There is no adjustment to tilt and/or adjust the height of the front of the seat. The control only raises/lowers the rear of the seat.
