I guess the Mach-e has been the best selling EV of the new players for a couple years now. So you want more?
It sells like a quarter of the similar Tesla model (at least per most recent numbers I saw)

Yes.

But it’s still #2 in sales behind Tesla.

And keep in mind there are at least 40 BEV SUVs currently for sale in the US-
https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...ave-the-same-suv-idea-at-the-same-time.37746/

So it’s Tesla #1, Mach E #2, and then 38 other cars behind us.

Now as to why aren’t we #1??
Price and brand loyalty/recognition. Tesla made the Model Y super cheap and it’s much better recognized as ā€œthe electric SUV.ā€

A lot of people still don’t seem to know our cars exist.

I assume you are new. For a long while there was no federal incentive for the MME and Ford offered barely any discounts or rebates so the Mach-E became a running joke for the slowest selling vehicle for a year until Ford woke up and started cutting prices and throwing incentives at it and the MMe finally started selling. The current laughing stock of the industry is probably the Dodge Hornet or Fiat 500e (which I just test drove yesterday at an auto show).

I’ve said it many times… EVs are $5-10K overpriced and folks love their new car incentives which basically crushes used prices. I test drove an Atlas at the same auto show and it was $43K and had more features than the $53K ID.4. It had a HUD, ventilated seats, premium audio and was very smooth for a 4 cylinder turbo. Why in the world would anybody buy an ID.4 that has none of that… for $10K more… and has more QC problems.
I wouldn’t ? of course I wouldn’t buy any VW Group product ?

How is the MME not selling better? From looking at the numbers it seems like it's doing Ok but not great. I think it's a beautiful looking car - every single other EV looks boxy (Hyundai , Kia) or ugly (looking at you Tesla). And it's hellafun to drive. I just don't get it!
Most people don't pay extra for looks.

All evs are fun to drive. Especially the ones with competent rear suspension.

Notice how many white teslas are on the road? They are the free color.

I don't think either of the two new GM EVs, or the Honda rebadge version, are visually objectionable. But I do think the Mach-E is visually more impressive.
But even that isn't why I would still choose the GT/GTPE over them. I'm now spoiled by the shear performance and composure of the GTPE. I wouldn't be willing to settle for less in that arena.

Edit:

Kia, on the other hand, absolutely can get me interested in the 5N, but it isn't exactly an inexpensive option. And I would still have to pretend I don't have reservations about the brands products.
I drove a blazer and equinox, both RS AWD and both noticeably slower than my 2021 AWD select. Neither of those offered anything above my mme, I would go Equinox if I wanted a cheap 300+ Mile EV in fwd.

The MME should be outselling those cars based upon looks alone.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", as the saying goes.....Some like Blonds, some Brunettes and some Gingers.....Personally as I would imagine most of the forum agree with you; which is why we bought and are on the forum. That being said, growing up in the 80's the Ionic 5 harkens me back to the old VW Rabbit.....The "N" version peaks my interest.

It is.

But while beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we all pretty much agree on what ā€œuglyā€ looks like. ?

That said, ā€œplainā€ usually sells well. The highest volume cars tend to be the most boring looking ones. (Boring also tends to be cheaper).

Was not considering it until it went on sale for the same price as a Ford Edge. Fear about nmc battery fires and range in cold weather. Pretty happy with lfp and range so far. Hard top is a plus when putting a kayak on the roof. But the kayak really hammers my range.
... baseless fear and misinformation erode EV sales in general.

Number of fires
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, there are about 25 fires for every 100,000 EVs sold, compared to about 1,530 fires for every 100,000 gas-powered vehicles sold.

I don't think the sales people at the dealership try to sell electric.

I dropped my MME off to get the HVBJB recall and a few other CSP done this morning. While waiting for someone to help, one of the service managers asked me if I like it.

I explained that it was the best car I had owned. He asked about range and seemed shocked I was satisfied. He then asked about charging cost and I explained how much I saved by charging at home and that road trips were roughly the same as gas.

He got visible frustrated and explained that no one that had bought a Lightning at the dealership was happy with their purchase and walked off.

This was at a more rural Ford dealership on the very outskirts of Metro Atlanta. The lot has almost 500 F-150 available, 550 F-250, and 230 Explorer or Expedition. I don't think their focus is on selling MME or Lightning.

My MME has now been in the Shop going on 3 weeks. The Secondary on board Diagnosis Module needs to be replaced. Thankfully it is covered under warranty but I am guessing that many that don't have an EV are nervous of the hidden costs to owning one along with range anxiety.

If EV's were more "tested" and the range anxiety were to subside, I would guess the car would sell better.

I personally would not have purchased my car again unless the price was much lower. Because the car is not selling well (in comparison), I am guessing I am not the only one.

I have been driving cars since 1978 and have owned around 100 cars and up until last month, I have never had a car in the repair shop this long. I will be curious to see what the total bill would have been as well.

In 2008 I bought a Honda Ridgeline. Sales that year were almost equal to MME in 2023. It was a great little truck but I heard plenty about it being a ā€œtoyā€. No matter, I drove the hell out of it and passed many a gas pump frequented by the Silverado/Ram/150 owners. Enjoy doing the same in your MME until the rest of the world catches up with you and stops believing all the lies about EV’s.
kdonnel is spot on too….many Ford dealers employees are totally negative about EVs. Too young or unwilling to remember what the Japanese did to the Big 3 back in the gas shortage era.

I received a ton of hate from my ICE friends when I bought my 2023 GTPE. I did my research, and looked at several EVs that fit my needs. A EV tool that would be my daily transportation a few days a week on a 160 mile commute to and from work. In the end it was looks, fit and finish, and finally loyalty to Ford. I didn't listen to the EV haters. My GTPE has been bullet proof. Almost no issues.
If people wouldn't listen to the biased populous and buy based on use. These cars would sell more.
I looked and drove the Teslas and my take away was it was great technically, but terrible fit and quality.
Love my GT and plan to keep it for 8 to 10 years.

An under-appreciated factor is simply that EVs are where automobiles were in 1908; a new, disruptive technology that is only at the beginning of broader consumer acceptance. And like all new technologies, it will follow a cost-reduction curve that eventually make them more affordable but for now are appealing mostly to more affluent buyers and early adopters. I chose to lease mine not because of the greatly reduced monthly payment but because I’m sure that at the end of my three year lease I won’t want to keep it, rather; rapid advancements in features and technology will have made it practically obsolete. for example, my 2024 lacks a heat pump that will be standard on all 2025s. This last factor also makes first-time buyers hesitant to commit.
Add to this the fact that the most practical way to own an EV is by having a level 2 charger at your home. For many people, this adds a non-trivial cost to the price of the car. Lastly, the mis-information machine is hard at work spreading lies about EV plummeting sales, battery life and fires, range anxiety and anything else they can think of to confuse and deter first-time buyers from making the switch. There is a famous ā€˜S-Curve’ that plots adoption of all new technologies. We are still in the first, flat-ish portion of that curve, and are within three years (IMHO) of reaching the inflection point where it really takes off.
