Just under 25kW, 72 panel ground mount array with three inverters.

And consumption to date for 2022, dominated by heating and EV charging:

That’s what I wanted but I live on a corner property abutting a main road. I’ve had 3 car crashes going through my fences making my yard unsafe for ground mounting. I have 24 roof panels providing 8400 kW. My solar rate is .174 per kWh which isn’t terrific but I’m on a no money down pay for usage contract. My normal utility rate delivered is .26 per kWh.

Here’s my logic:
I consider the cost of the Mustang Mach E (~$55K) to be a sink cost and irrelevant to any “savings” consideration.
My old escape got -280-315 miles per tankful and it was roughly 13 gallons to fill the tank. Over a year (so this includes winter), I guess I’m “ballpark of 230-240 miles per charge, so about 75% of the Escape. Before I went onto TOU billing, I was paying ~$0.13/kWh, so a “full charge” was running me about $0.13 x 80 kWh = $10.40 x 1.25 = $13 equivalent cost to “fill” the Mustang Mach E versus the $30 for the Escape. So a little more than 50% savings on fuel. With TOU, that increases yo a 67% savings on fuel. Then the little things, like no oil changes, no state emission inspection, add on some more.

For us, we understand that going from a paid off (for many years) Chevy Volt to a new MME was going to come at the price of a monthly car payment. That was unavoidable. But we are currently paying $4.50 a gallon to lug around kids in an Explorer that don't fit in the Volt, and the idea of being able to do that without filling the Explorer's tank twice a week was enough to bite the bullet. We will keep the Explorer, and just drive it a lot less. I drive the Volt for work, and I get reimbursed per mile at the federal rate ($.585 currently), so getting off gas entirely for my work vehicle will help with the MME's monthly payment. Once it's paid off, it will just put money in my pocket the more I drive it for work.

For us, the circumstances for which we plan to use the MME guided our purchase. We know we wanted an EV, and we have been happy with the Explorer and our experience with the Ford dealer in the area. We really enjoyed the MME when we test drove one. It will save us some money eventually, once it's paid off...

Have had a Mach-E for 14 months. I didn't trade to save on gas honestly, just wanted the car. Today's gas prices though are saving from what I traded in, getting about 22mpg.

I don't have peak hours or anything, my rate is .089xxx.

No normal roof has enough surface area for an all electric home in the north east and since I am on a large lot it made sense to go to a ground mount.

And one last benefit, I can unsoil mine to get every kWh possible:

I just passed 4,000 miles on my GT PE. Received in late November and have mostly used a Juicebox EVSE at home. This weekend, I did the calculations based on my utility price of $.1128$/kwh. 4063 miles has cost me $192.38 in charges. And, no, I rarely drive it like a grandmother and am running snow tires during winter here in Colorado.

I also live in Westchester NY and have ConEd. Unlike much of the rest of the country, they have no off-peak rate reductions. Ridiculous. The program they have requires you connect a device under the dash that they say only tracks charging location and time of day that you charge. No thanks. Got my car in November and have tracked cost per KW each month- ranges from $0.19 to $0.23. Don't know if the following is accurate, but if I'm putting 90KW into my battery, that costs me around $20. I get a little over 200 miles with that. My '17 Mustang GT gets around a combined 20MPG, and uses premium gas. That means I need at least 10 gallons of premium, at somewhere around $4.50 a gallon, to make 200 miles, so at least $45. I figure the Mach-E costs a little less than half the price of my 5.0GT.

My solar panels produce 6kW. They recharge our Tesla Powerwall in the morning which provides 5 kW when I plug in our MME, that charges at 11 kW, between 11:30 am to 3:00 pm, which leaves enough sunshine to recharge the Powerwall back to 100% for use at night. I usually do this twice a week and turn off our pool filter while the Mach-E charges.
I've been using this charging schedule for about six weeks. I got my PG&E bill yesterday and I had a $19 overall credit for the month of March. So my "fuel" costs can be said to be close to zero for our EV. I'm fortunate in that I have Thursdays off so I usually have two times a week for charging during the day.

Westchester does suck with this con Ed BS. In summer with AC and pool and clothes dryer cranking on my small 1900 sqft house my ConEd bill is in the $700 range a month. It’s unreal! This is why I may have to stick with my bronco sport. I really do want the Mach E even more now that it’s that much harder to get and prices rising. I commute taconic every morning and I’ve never seen a GT and maybe 1 or 2 MMEs

So I have con Ed. Ny westchester. Horrible. Anyway how much are you really saving. I drive like 240 miles a week. My current car gets like 17 per gallon. Off peak charging should be good.
A three month snapshot
Avg. M/kWh - 2.79
Energy Cost to Operate (ECtO)/Mile - $.07
ECtO Savings over 2019 Subaru Crosstrek (30.663 MPG= $.1362/Mile) - $160.65 savings/2425 miles = $.0662/Mile
  • $.24 kWh delivered rate (Effective rate $.22-$.12 kWh Feb thru April with Solar offset)
    • Home Charging Consumption measured at the circuit panel
      • Includes a 17% observed Electric Vehicle Support Equipment (EVSE) efficiency loss using the supplied Ford Mobile Charger
  • Direct Fast Charging billed at $.43 kWh

Major variables:
  • Driving Style
  • Delivered electricity cost
  • Temperature
  • % Home Charging vs. DFC

I did not buy my $60,000 car for "savings".
60K car with "savings" is better then 60K car without "savings"

Standard JuiceBox reports. Got my Mach-E on 7/2, JB put in 7/27, but then replaced 8/19, so the data starts in late August.

In the winter months as my utility calls it (oct-may) electricity is ridiculously cheap here. Roughly 8c/kWh for the first 750kWh then ~5c/kWh after that. My household uses a substantial amount of electricity, even in the winter so we do go over that 750kWh threshold even without an EV. Therefore I claim my car costs only 5c/kWh to charge in the winter. To that math, I average about 2.4mi/kWh all winter so it costs me less than 2.5c per mile to drive in the winter. That's pretty insane. My truck is about 15mpg average and diesel is $4.60 so thats a whopping 30c/mile to drive! Over 10x more!

Assuming I did all my math right...my savings in actual energy/fuel costs is insanely lower than if I still drove the Focus RS I replaced with my Mach E.

In the summer here it is 12c/kWh no matter how much you use. At roughly 3 mi/kWh average in the summer thats 4c/mile. Still really inexpensive...
