My 2022 is currently applying an HVAC update. Don't see any recent update threads.

Sounds like the recirculation will turn itself off even more often. Ugh! They could at least show it on the main screen so we know when it happens.

This is excellent news! My winter game of turning recycle air back on just became less predictable!

I haven’t had the update and, thus, got to play a little game while in the way to the store yesterday. The game is “How foggy will my windshield get before the auto system even starts to defog?” I got to about 1/4 fogged up before pressing the max defrost button. Yes, it had kicked in but it’s hardly enthusiastic about its job.

This is probably the OTA for the HVAC software that has been out since last winter (they must finally be trying to get it out before next winter). The fogging was one of the issues with the older HVAC software, and there have been several revisions to address it.

My experience in the winter (e.g. 20ºF) is the latest software will allow some fogging, but it usually resolves itself in less than 30 seconds. It's much better than before. I don't have to use the Defrost button to clear it as often. If you see fog, just wait a few extra seconds, and it's not clearing on its own, then hit the defrost button. Minimize defrost use if you care about max heat and efficiency. Using Max defrost will cause the cabin temp to drop in very cold weather.

The fogging is caused by the fresh air damper being closed (recirc mode) in cold weather for extended periods (it does this automatically). This is both a good and bad thing. The damper should be closed as much as possible to help preserve cabin heat and not waste energy. But there is a fogging limit. If the damper was left open all the time, there wouldn't be fogging but you would have very limited heat in cold temps (you obviously have more heat when it's sucking in 50ºF cabin air instead of -20ºF outside air).

During the rest of the year (warm months), the recirc strategy has been very well behaved. The latest software does maintain your recirculate setting indefinitely across key cycles, and keeps the damper closed for long periods of time (which is good if you're driving in wildfire smoke). Recirc will only be canceled if the interior humidity gets too high or you select a defrost mode. So it will work the way you expect as long as it is not too humid inside your car.

The fact you can fog up the windows in the Mach E might be the best argument the "Not a Mustang" crowd has for why it's not a real Mustang
The ICE Mustang back seat may be cramped but not impossible….

It's impossible when you're 6'1" and your lumbar spine has more metal than bone :ROFLMAO:

I rented an ICE Mustang a while back and just getting in and out of the front was enough to convince me I'd never own one. No way you're getting me in the back seat, no matter how pretty you talk to me

So this is the third update in the series "trying to fix the fogging issue we created in the winter of 2022" 😂😂 that would be the 4th HVAC system update in the series started with the first attempt trying to fix the issues from the low heat in low temperature and still it cannot run full power heating of both cabin and battery at the same time

Yeah it’s just engineering limitations at this point. Needs a bigger heater and more insulation to get any further improvements.

Owning one ICE Mustang does seem silly.

That’s why I own two!
