I took my Premium AWD ER in for the recall (fully functional at the time). They took pictures of the HVBJB as per Ford instruction and sent them in with the part order. While waiting for the recall part, the original HVBJB failed a few weeks later.Wait, are you saying that your recall HVBJB part failed? If so, that is the first I have heard of that happening. Your AWD Premium should have received HVBJB Part # NK4Z-10C666-E; was that the part # they installed and then failed one month later? Can you give us the details of the failure: Speed, duration of trip, any fast charging, did you get the Stop Safely Now warning message, did your car brick and need a tow, etc?
- No fast charging since late last summer
- No error or warning messages
- The car essentially bricked itself by completely draining the 12v battery while it was plugged in to L2 charger in my garage
- I did not need a tow, but I needed to charge the 12v battery to get the car to start
- I drove it to the dealer
I took a full OBD2 extract when the car came back up but there were so many things on it due to the low 12v battery state, that I gave up sifting through it.
As for others, I've seen a couple of folks on this forum with 2nd and 3rd failures of the HVBJB. Not sure if it was before the recall was issued though. I'm hoping they re-engineered the parts to be more durable.
