Wait, are you saying that your recall HVBJB part failed? If so, that is the first I have heard of that happening. Your AWD Premium should have received HVBJB Part # NK4Z-10C666-E; was that the part # they installed and then failed one month later? Can you give us the details of the failure: Speed, duration of trip, any fast charging, did you get the Stop Safely Now warning message, did your car brick and need a tow, etc?
I took my Premium AWD ER in for the recall (fully functional at the time). They took pictures of the HVBJB as per Ford instruction and sent them in with the part order. While waiting for the recall part, the original HVBJB failed a few weeks later.
  • No fast charging since late last summer
  • No error or warning messages
  • The car essentially bricked itself by completely draining the 12v battery while it was plugged in to L2 charger in my garage
  • I did not need a tow, but I needed to charge the 12v battery to get the car to start
  • I drove it to the dealer
The failure as described by the dealer - "The HVBJB fused in a Closed position (ON) causing the car to keep the 12v management system active and draining the 12v battery. The car is not safe to drive until the part is replaced"

I took a full OBD2 extract when the car came back up but there were so many things on it due to the low 12v battery state, that I gave up sifting through it.

As for others, I've seen a couple of folks on this forum with 2nd and 3rd failures of the HVBJB. Not sure if it was before the recall was issued though. I'm hoping they re-engineered the parts to be more durable.

Thanks for the clarification, good to know it wasn't the new part that failed. I know that some of the early recall replacements used the old remanufactured part (NK4Z-10C666-CRM for your car). I would suggest making sure you get the new part # NK4Z-10C666-E. Good luck!

Hoping the part comes in soon. The dealer has no visibility as to when the part will arrive and it is very frustrating. 5 weeks and counting......

Disregard.
Problem seems to have corrected on its own.

I have a 21J2 RWD Extended Range MME and am due to have my HVBJB replaced but so far all I have gotten from Ford, other than a notice in November last year, is complete radio silence. A dealer I spoke with claims that the new part is not available. Really? What gives @Ford? Has anyone with the same type of car as mine been able to get the repair done? TIA to anyone able to shed light on the mystery of the unavailable part 6 months into the recall campaign.
Same here. Its been awhile for me too. Dealer is still waiting for the parts.

I have a 22 premium extended range which I would assume the parts are the same?? I went in the first week of January to make an appointment and it took 3 weeks for them to the get the parts. It was done the beginning of February with no issues.

Maybe no way to help but in USA if the HVBJB fails the dealer gets a higher priority and orders the part through COPIS. I do not know if that is available to Canada or not but it would not hurt to inquire.

Open your Ford PAAK app, tap service, tap recall and that's all the info you will get for now!

Found on many of our screens:
"Recall incomplete, remedy not yet available" It means hurry up and wait.

I'm in the same boat as a lot of others that saw the recall for maybe a day when it first came out then it disappeared. Hoping it shows up again at some point since the replacement I got 18 months ago was only the "C" part instead of the newer "E".

I would really like to see something “official” but my understanding is there is no difference except the part number which is why people who’s HVBJB ‘ s were changed out previously were removed from the recall. Essentially all that was ever changed out were the contactors.

Just dropped a perfect 2021 May build premium AWD extended range off at the dealer with only 23k miles for all the windshield, roof, and this battery recall. Really hoping all goes well because I have no issues with my car.

21 Job 1 AWD Extended Range - I just called the dealership yesterday to get an update. Taking a road trip in a couple of weeks and it would give me some piece of mind to have this recall done before that. I was told they are prioritizing the recalls and Ford will let me know when it's my turn. ?

Hope so. It's all so confusing, and leaves a nagging concern for every road trip we do (which we do a lot of, including a 6000 mile trip coming up in May). An official clarification would sure be nice.

Has anybody heard of a GT fail since they started using the "C" part or if an AWD ER has died with the new "E" part?
