Can you ask for the old parts? Or at least see them? In this province (Ontario) the Motor Vehicle Repair Act stipulates that repair shops must give you the parts they replaced back to you if you ask., in fact they are supposed to offer.

Maybe in the case of a recall it’s not applicable, but if it’s not too late I’m sure they could at least show you the old contactors.
I think that only applies if you pay for the repair. It is to try and keep the shop honest, showing you that the part was indeed defective. For a warranty repair, you're not paying for anything and they already have to prove to Ford the part needed replacement in order to get paid for the work. Plus, it makes sense for the dealer to keep the part in case Ford needs it for data collection.

I am confident that law only applies if you paid for the repair. Manufacturers require their dealers to retain warranty parts for inspection or return them for vendor recovery.

So Saturday my wife and I were driving home (600 mile road trip about 100 miles from our house, lots of DC fast charging and driving up and down mountains with the heater on due to storms) and got the dreaded High Voltage battery warning as well as the Drivetrain warning (all indications of the HVJB failure). We were able to make it home on limp mode and Monday morning called ford who said they wanted to tow the vehicle (even though we could still drive it) to the dealership. This afternoon I get an update from the dealership that the vehicle is fixed and ready to go, that there were 2 outstanding software updates (a TSB and a recall) that took care of the issue.

I am super skeptical this is actually a "fix" given the prevalence of this issue, but curious if anyone else has had this issue fixed via software after you got the warnings, or is it possible the dealership just cleared the codes and they will come right back?

Took delivery Feb of 2021, 29XXX miles on the car, Premium AWD Extended range.
I had this same “fix” last April. Dealer said it just needed a few modules updated No big deal.

Fast forward 10k uneventful miles to last Thursday night and I got the same warnings come back.

Good news was I was able to drive it to the dealer and they ordered the part Friday AM and got it Monday afternoon. They were putting the car back together this afternoon and I should be back in it tomorrow.

But yes, I’m pretty sure last time, it was a clear the code and update modules…but it was fixed for 8 months.

This seems sketchy to me if you really had a stuck contactor. I can’t believe the car would behave normally for 8 more months if it continues to measure high resistance across the HVJB. FFS, I can’t even clear my low tire pressure warning without it coming back immediately.

I'm dropping mine off tomorrow for my second HVB failure, at least that's what I think it is. Hopefully I don't get this from my dealer.

Not stuck, but rather a maybe-soon-to-be-stuck contactor. For this particular service warning, Ford uses a random number generator, rather than actual signs of part failure. ;)

Yeah, that’s what I figured…

After a lot of back and forth the dealership agreed to replace the HVBJB and put an order in today, no ETA yet, and no timing on when they will actually be able to make the repair.

Ford BEV case manager though is none existent, Haven't gotten them to respond to me since Monday, talked to other reps and even a supervisor and keep getting told they will call me back, but it's been 48+ hours since I have had a useful conversation with them, and have received a grand total of 0 call backs. So still no rental or loaner vehicle.

Push to get a loaner or rental through the dealer. Even if they have none NOW they can usually put you on the list to get the next available one.

I would call and speak to the service manager, if you haven't already, and tell him how they almost cut you loose with a car that could strand you somewhere. I would also verify with the manager that they submitted the order through COPIS so they get it right away. If they ordered it "normally," it might never show up.
