I think that only applies if you pay for the repair. It is to try and keep the shop honest, showing you that the part was indeed defective. For a warranty repair, you're not paying for anything and they already have to prove to Ford the part needed replacement in order to get paid for the work. Plus, it makes sense for the dealer to keep the part in case Ford needs it for data collection.Can you ask for the old parts? Or at least see them? In this province (Ontario) the Motor Vehicle Repair Act stipulates that repair shops must give you the parts they replaced back to you if you ask., in fact they are supposed to offer.
Maybe in the case of a recall it’s not applicable, but if it’s not too late I’m sure they could at least show you the old contactors.
