I'm just curious, what is the hype of being able to charge at a Tesla charger: cost, speed, availablity?

We will be getting access to ~15,000 SuperChargers.

Electrify America has under 4,000. Huge increase about to happen.

There are places you cannot travel today and use DC fast charging, that tomorrow you will be able to. There are also places where EA is overused, and the addition of Telsa will make a difference.

In many places, EA may have 4 chargers. Tesla may have 10, 12, or more.

BUT, many times Tesla MAY cost more. And, a working EA charger MAY be a bit faster, especially for Lightnings.

Guess you missed all the Ford announcements?

We will be able to reserve adapters that will then be sent to us. We will be able to use all V3 and V4 Tesla SuperChargers, and it will be within the Ford network. Probably dozens of threads on it.

Of course where you live isn't the issue, it's where you travel to. Using DC fast chargers in your hometown would be unusual.

Assuming it's Crossfield, AB, if you go south past Calgary, there's a location. There's one in Strathmore, Bassano, and Red Deer. Also Golden.

Clearly you haven't seen Ford's list of "terms". Spring, is not the same as spring, in that it doesn't represent a season, more a general sense of time, like "perhaps before year end".

Maybe even “ Spring” as more of a “feeling” ?

In charging deserts, this literally doubles the options. Right now trips require planning stops around charger access. A broken charger can cause a 100-mile plan change. With Supercharger access you have the opportunity to plan stops in a way that is much more convenient to your schedule. EA is the only game in this region. Competition is sorely needed.

As we approach the period of time they call "Spring", we will soon receive devices to connect our vehicles to Tesla SuperChargers. Prior to that happening, it's important to properly identify these devices.

If it's not in the manual, it doesn't exist.

'Adapter' is preferred in American English and is utilized in the United States and countries that adhere to American English spelling conventions. Like 'adaptor,' 'adapter' refers to a device that enables compatibility or connection between two different systems or devices.

Coverage is the right answer. For example, I live in St. Louis and I have friends in Louisville. Until Tesla put a Magic Dock on their Haubstadt, IN charger, there was a giant gap along I-64 between Mount Vernon, IL and Louisville proper that would’ve made the drive tough, particularly in winter, unless I wanted to take a 45 min detour to Evansville and try my luck at a Kia dealership with terrible PlugShare ratings. I’m sure there are dozens more of these scenarios all over the country that will completely disappear as soon as the Tesla network opens up.
