Checking in to see if anyone had this issue.

My infotainment screen decided to reboot itself while driving. It was sunny and warm (90 degF outside). 2 minutes into the drive the infotainment screen just went black, and then went through the power up sequence to return where it was at prior. The driver's display maintained connection and did not reset.

2 weeks prior my infotainment screen did do the dreaded no power on black screen, which I resolved by pulling over and using the steering wheel reset trick.

you need to have it replaced, Ford used some screens that were not automotive grade according to some folks.

I've had the restart while driving issue about 5-8 times this summer. I don't remember this happening last summer, so it may be a software issue as opposed to a heat one, but I'm not sure. What's interesting is, IIRC, the reverse/surround camera display still works while SYNC is dying and restarting.

The screens themselves are automotive grade. So far there've been no reports of bubbling, leaking adhesive, or yellowing bands as plagued the owners of one of the other brands of cars that uses large touch screens. But the other electronics involved there might not be handling high heat? Or like I said earlier, maybe it is a software glitch. ?

Mine has randomly rebooted twice since I’ve owned my Mach-E (April 2021). And I’ve had to force reboot due to a frozen, unresponsive screen a couple of times, but hey, it’s a computer. I don’t think I’ve ever owned a device with a computer in it that I never had to reboot!

But yes, if it keeps crashing on you, take it in as newmme suggested.

Had this happen twice yesterday within 10min on my '22 Premium a day after the 3.1.1 update. Trying to avoid the "Did you unplug it then plug it in conversation" since it was able to restart after I turned the car off at a stop light. But I called @Ford Motor Company so that they'd at least start to build a record.

I’ve had my GT since July 5, 2022 and twice while driving the infotainment screen just goes off and then reboots. They were on different days, and I was not interacting with the display when it happened. Not necessarily annoyed by it, just don’t want it to get worse or fail completely and not restart.

had mine reboot yesterday while driving, not terribly hot (82f) and no interaction from me at the time. The screen rebooted and went right back to the same spot in navigation. I also had the 3.1.1 update last week as well.
Not too concerned since my previous car (Escape) would occasionally do something similar.

Yes, new since March. Has happened 2 times. Fairly quick off them back on while driving.

Happened twice on my 22 Premium AWD ER in the month I owned it and also once on a 22 GTPE that I upgraded too. It just restarts. You can drive but AC I think stops.

Well I had the no power on black screen again, this time with the wife in the car ?. Had to search to remember how to reboot it. Not ideal.

I'll be calling the dealership tomorrow.

Hi there. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into your screen concern on my end.

Happened to me yesterday while I was accelerating out of traffic. Immediately after that though, I got Ford Power-Up 3.2.1.

Not sure if these two incidents are connected.

See this tread and reference this SSM:

Coincidentally I'm sitting in my dealer's lounge right now waiting for my screen to be replaced. It took them ~2 months to get a replacement in the shop - hopefully they're generally available now.

This has happened to me about 3 times in the last 2 weeks. It only happened once before within the first 2 weeks of ownership (middle of May '22). This latest set seems to have come right before and after I received an update with no details on Aug 4. I did just receive the 3.1.1 update even of Aug 16 as well.

And I just got 3.2.1 over lunch! I will keep an eye on the reboots. Per others, I did force a SYNC reset after this 3.2.1 update.
