Comma has visions of being FSD. They did one limited proof of concept a few years ago and videoed it, but by my estimation they are still at least two years from being able to roll it out.I've been trying to get a better idea of what comma does. Is it basically somewhere in between bluecruise and FSD? Also all the videos I've seen show navigation running but I also understand comma doesn't do end to end navigation so is it basically like bluecruise where we direct the car in the direction it should go but it drives and reacts to the world more like FSD? I have a 2022 gtpe I recently purchased thinking about installing it in a few months.
Does anyone know if the supplied cable is long enough, or is it best to buy the one AjzRide suggested/linked to?
I don't think any of the Comma4 docks are open-source yet. I have pledged to make mine open source after 50 orders, so I can recoup all of the cost I spent develping it. I'm also not sure if anyone else is shipping their C4 docks yet.Does anyone have feedback/experience with the various 3D printed quick mounts as I may move the device to the other car for long trips? Any mounts in particular that you'd suggest? I have a printer and can make the mount myself.
Yes, that is the branch to install, and then pair sunnylink so you can force your vehicle to be recognized. bp-6.0 will release in another week or two in beta format.Sounds like BluePilot is the fork to use. Am I correct that you do not need to install SunnyPilot first anymore?
Is bp-c4-basic what I want to install?
You can still take the device inside and upload data, but you will lose automatic uploads. The only thing I lose by not running the second cable to the OBD2 port is power to the device after shutdown - so that means no uploading drive data? Anything else you lose?
Yes, definetely check that everything powers up and the camera comes on with the device in the trunk before you start tearing all the panels out to run the USB cable. If all goes well, I should get my shipping notification tomorrow (yes, I check the spreadsheet obsessively every day). I've watched the videos for running the USB cable. My question is.... I've seen some people post issues with the harness or wiring and such in the past (maybe not for a while, so could be cleared up). Do you recommend plugging it in and testing the unit BEFORE taking the time to run the cable? And as I understand it, the cable is just about exactly the right length now. Do you leave any slack anywhere, or run it tight to make sure it fits all the way?
Hope that all makes sense. Just anxious and want to make sure I do it right the first time!
Since the C4 connector is on the front, the cable Comma supplies is just barely long enough if you follow my routing.

I know beartech is still on back order for C4 docks.
My dock is not as cool as some of the others because I use off the shelf USB parts, nothing custom that you can't replace if it wears out.

Right on. Much appreciated. Do you recommend running the cable from the front to the back, so any slack is in the back by the IPMA? Or is that a non-issue?Yes, definetely check that everything powers up and the camera comes on with the device in the trunk before you start tearing all the panels out to run the USB cable.
Some guys had fried their harness box by plugging into the wrong port on the IPMA, that is why i made a video specific to the Q4 harness.
There are still a few bad Q4 harnesses that pop up, but not nearly as many since the v3 harness came out. it's all injection molded (the v1 was 3D printed).
Since you know it is going to be close, I would run back to front. That way if you need to add a coupler and a short cable, you can put the coupler under the rear view mirror cover where it will be easy to access.Right on. Much appreciated.
