Can anyone confirm that they successfully installed it in a 2023 Job 1 Mustang Mach-E?

I installed it last night and with the Q4 harness connected I am getting the following errors in the car:

Stop safely now
Pedestrian sounder fault service now
Blind spot system fault
Cross-traffic system fault
Service vehicle soon

I am trying to troubleshoot if it's the harness...which I think it is, but as the Mach E is not officially supported, the Comma support team won't send me a new harness for free. I need to (effectively) pay $9.99 for them to send me a replacement to try.

I would like to verify that someone got this working on a 2023 before I do that.

I installed it in my 2023 but I’m not sure what Job 1 is. Obviously it’s critical you are pulling the correct cable connector. I believe it is the second one from top but double check that on the EV Vida video. When I first installed mine, I got all sorts of weird messages. When I checked the connectors, one was not inserted all the way. Once I fixed that, problem was solved. I would say you’ve either got a faulty harness, wrong cable bundle from car, or a loose connection somewhere between harness and car.

Yeah I tried to reseat all the connectors...no change. I am using the port on the IPMA that is second from the top. Sounds like I got a bad harness or harness box, but I'm not thrilled at support's response...

I'm not sure it's the same issue.
For example, an update states:

It's worth noting that JUST the harness with an OBD-C cable is necessary to trigger faults.

So harness with relay box is okay, add the cable only and it fails.
and that's not the behavior I'm seeing. I am seeing it fail all the time. Also, the issue states that this affects Lightnings only and not the Mach E

It has to do with the length of the cabling, reflections off the bus, and resistance. It does affect the Mach-E.

But if there is nothing connected to the harness box, there are no reflections...
The issue in the post is because of having a unterminated long stub on the CAN bus, which I don't have

Also the issue mentions several times that it does not affect the Mach E

People in the community discord have reported issues with the 3X on the Mach-E. I'll see if I can dig further.

@TheNoname problem is not related to the lightning harness issue. when he hooks up the Comma in the trunk using the stock supplied short USB cable, he still has no communication between the IPMA and the car. I suspect he has a bard harness box where the relay is not failing closed.

We did have one other Mach E user who never could get a Comma to work, and we never did find out what was different about his car before he returned his comma because the return period was coming to a close.

I'm so tempted. But my BC road coverage here in the Northeast is acvually pretty good, at least for my common trips. I'm on BC 1.0 which is "okay", but has some well-known problems that really take away from the experience.

I can't quite justify the OP expense right now but I'll admit the gadget enthusiast in me is very tempted. It'll probably just require a late night, couple beers, some boredom, and a laptop to pull the trigger on this impulse buy ;)
My BC trial runs out in March of 2025, I will be taking a hard look at comma.ai then. We could get a few of us together on a saturday and all help each other install?

Newburyport, so very convenient. I also have a Bolt that would support it, my friend and I might tackle comma.ai on that, I can let you know if we do.

At some point I plan to make a full guide on how to access the IPMA on the 2023 Mach E. It's difficult, but not as hard as I thought it would be. I want others to not be afraid of it like I was.
I'll follow up in this thread when I do it.

How well does this work on a car (like mine) that doesn't have the 360 camera or BC capability?

I completely agree. I was expecting the worst in trying to access the IPMA but it turned out to be very doable if you take your time and don't just start yanking on stuff. I had also heard that the pillar trim on the windshield was very hard to get back on so I never took it off. I just pulled the rubber gasket for the door, slid the cable in the pillar and put the gasket back on. Good luck on making the full guide. I wish I had recorded my install to help others out but I didn't think of that until after.

On another note, what is the expected behavior when you don't have the C3X plugged in? Mine seems to not behave entirely stock when I leave it unplugged. I will have to try it again to remember exactly what was missing but I believe BC could not be activated. Would that be normal?
