Friends in Seattle are paying about $300 +/- a month for their Tesla 3, almost double what a 'normal' car costs. Going on line I see that Mach-Es are $30-50 more a month. Does that square away with what members here are paying?

That seems high, but I don't know what it's like in Seattle vs Michigan. I don't have the cheapest insurance, and we carry $500 deductible with broadened collision, and it's around $208 a month. Our 2 year newer non-fancy Rav4 runs around $117/mo.

Insurance has many variables - location, annual mileage, driver history (accidents, tickets, arrests, etc), age, car, combined discounts, deductibles, and options. Never a simple comparison.

That sounds like they dropped you.

Yes, I had been covered by them on various policies when they decided they would not insure older houses. There had been no claims made against the house insurance. It is still standing and a great old house. I updated water, sewer, electrical panel and most wiring, bathrooms and kitchen.

I was happily surprised when my Mach e 2022 ER AWD Premium arrived. I was trading a 2011 Town & Country van for it. My insurance went from $850.00 CAD/yr with the T&C, to $985.00CAD/yr, for the Mach E. Both include a 2009 Grand Caravan, which I still have, though it is not covered for collision damage. (they will write it off anyways if it is in a collision at this point in its life)

All of those relevant factors you mention are common no matter what car a person insures.

You can’t even compare car to car with the same person. It’s not just the type of car but also the statistics on that exact model. You can have two very similar types of cars that cost the same but one has statistically more claims than the other for some reason and will be more. My 2006 GLI has very high insurance rates even for liability only, about $200/year less than full coverage on a 2018 4runner lol. The Mach e is $300/year more than the 4Runner (probably because of mileage).

It is about $100 cheaper than an Edge. I think it is around $500 for 6 months with bundles and all discounts (track driving app and full pay). We have 40% uninsured in the area. Some people around here believe that it is fine to drive a car without insurance for 2-3 months. I have seen many expired very old paper tags in Texas.
