If you car was updated by dealer, do we lose early access program? Before my 12v batt issues I was on fast track with bunch of daily updates, just wondering if I’ll move up to 2.8.x soon…

No. If your dealer did the updates though, you won't get them OTA since you already have them. It will depend on when your dealer did the updates. If they did them when 2.5.3 was out, you'll still get 2.8.3, but if they did it in the last few weeks, the dealer should have installed 2.8.3 already.

That's how all the mapping apps work. When you create a route in Google Maps or Waze, it's not doing the routing calculations on your phone - it's their cloud servers in the background.

I discovered a couple of years back that Waze has a 1000 mile limit on creating a route. It was surprising at the time but makes sense when you think about it - the routing tree grows exponentially with distance and they made a server resource decision to limit routes to 1000 miles.

I tried to join EA after buying my 2021 last July. Always said waitlisted, and each time I visited it changed the date to current day.

Just visited now, and it immediately enrolled my 2022 that I've had since Tuesday.

This begs the question, why does Google suggest you download maps for trips?? If I am in an area of poor/no connectivity Maps will not plot a route.

I think they were trying to get more newer cars into the program. If you have a 2021 Job 2 or 2022, you can probably get in pretty quick right now.

You might try joining the waitlist. Before I don't think it really did anything, but I think it works properly now.

I left waitlist and went back in and still says waitlist. I feel like the EA program would be beneficial to have people who know what they are doing to report.

They will download the map tiles you need for a route you already have plotted so navigation keeps working if you drive through a cell dead zone.
