Hey Guys,

I've noticed over the past month or two that the interior cabin does not heat up very well, even when the temperature is set to HI. I do understand that heat will be reduced in order to heat up the battery pack, but in the 3+ years that I've owned my Mach-E I haven't noticed this large of a drop in temperature output.

Is there there a way I can test the system outside of using a laser thermometer on the vents?

For reference... no-preconditioning, parked outside, outside temperature approximately 40F. No improvement in temperature after a 45 minute drive.

Have you changed the cabin air filter?
Yes, E-heat is on and the cabin filter was replaced back in August. I had been planning on taking a look at the filter again soon. Speaking of the filter, the last time I changed it, I saw a piece of grey foam in it about the size of a grape, but I shrugged it off.

I'm willing to guess that more of that grey foam might be the culprit. I wonder where it might have come from?

Anyway, I'd check it sooner rather than later since if something is blocking the vent enough to keep the car from warming up, then it could be creating other problems...

Precondition your car, make sure you are on recycle air and not fresh from the outside, turn off the ac(it’s usually on to prevent fogging the windows ) and don’t move to Pennsylvania it’s 10deg here today! I found the grape also, my best guess is it was stuck in a place to stop a rattling noise from happening.

Check the fluid level for the coolant loop. If it’s OK, you probably have a stuck diverter valve.

If your not already doing so, try using "Auto" setting to let the vehicle do it's thing most efficiently based on your desired temperature. Also, I find that Auto 1, or Auto 2, is better than a fan on full blast which dissipates the heat faster leading to a feeling of colder air blowing on you. At a lower speed you are allowing the heat to build up more before dissipating it entirely, resulting in warmer feeling air exiting the vents.

With that said, i live in Canada where temps can routinely get below -20c, and I've never had an issue with staying warm in the vehicle, and i actually I keep my temps set at 18.5c on Auto 1, and i use the seat heating and steering wheel heat as well. Doing this is find cabin gets plenty warm enough, while also not totally killing efficiency.

We had a similar problem and they found a coolant leak that was causing the issue. I’d take it to the dealer

My wife drove my car and shut off the vents. Before you go crazy, check that they are open.

To prove a point, if you have one of those meat thermometers, check the temp at the outlet. If you take it to the dealer, you have a measured temperature rather than say it doesn't heat up.

I have 21 rwd er and e heat does not work at all since two weeks. What can it be and how to fix. Live in Sweden and temp is below 30F all the time. Note that electricity consumption went down as e heat stopped working. Also there is no warning.

Just an update on my situation. I did check the fluid levels and everything is fine. The heat did start working again after a few days, so I am guessing the valve is starting to go and needs replacing at some point, as was previously suggested. I have not taken it to the dealership yet, but I will once it becomes more of a problem.
