The ‘21 Premium is a real nice car. That’s what I have and I’m very happy with it. Mine has the foot activated liftgate and parking assist, features not in the ‘22 & ‘23. What was the mileage and is it AWD and ER?
Yeah, I wish my 22 had those options...especially the foot-activated liftgate. My wife has that on her VW and it comes in very handy.

tailgate/trunk:
mine works fine - opening(one kick) & closing(double kick), under circular plug, left of lic. plate
unfortunate you cannot take it to dealership
probably an east & quick fix

most of time, but not always & w/ delay (it has to think about it) - perhaps delay is a safety feature?
I dunno. Mine is dumb. I have to kick, give it the doggy finger, then kick again. Sometimes multiple times. It get so that my finger gets more of a workout than my leg. Unless I lift my leg on it. Then it opens. ?‍♂?

Are we still pretending Tesla is ahead in “tech” because they have a slightly snappier display and security cams that drain your battery? I owned a Tesla. The “tech” wasn’t any better. It just had a snappier CPU, no CarPlay, and no Android auto. Let’s stop repeating this almost religiously that “Tesla is good at tech” because they are willing to put untested driver assistance features in consumer vehicles and their pedestrian speaker makes fart noises. Santa Mode is not advanced tech, it’s what happens when immature boys with no experience developing a safe product make all the decisions at a company.

I really think a lot of EV buyers simply don't care about tech (think suburban mom shuffling kids around and who you see driving a lot of Tesla MYs), but the Tesla supercharging network is the main killer feature of any Tesla.

With them opening up chargers in various corridors/areas, I think their #1 advantage (IMO) will be gone.

I agree with you that there is so much about killer "tech" mentioned, but who really cares/needs it?

We got youtube in our cars now and some new games, I tested youtube a couple times, not a big factor in my decision process.

There are a ton more random tubes/crap in our cars though. :) A dealership close to me has a lot of MME, but the number has gone down so some folks are buying it I guess.

I have a 21 with the foot activated tailgate, but I can never get it to work. Any advice?
Mine opened by itself so often when I was just walking by the back of the car in the garage that I deactivated it. I have no idea how the sensor works, but my dealer was clueless when I complained.

The Telsa tech thing is so funny bc I mainly see and hear Telsa bulls that are holding the stock mention it. And then when someone asks them to list the tech they’re referencing you get something like battery or motor tech.

It’s like they forget that BMW and Mercedes and Lucid make very efficient motors. They don’t mention that Mercedes has a working Level 3 ADAS for the EQS or BYD’s level 3 ADAS that their using in China, but you hear plenty about the Level 2 “self driving” ADAS from Tesla that’s not fully baked.

A lot of it stems from Tesla having been first to the mass production EV game. But now there are other EV automakers that have tech that’s as good or better than Tesla, but you will not hear it in some circles bc the stock needs to be pumped or the non-stock people can’t wrap their minds around other manufacturers being just as good.

No one mentions level 3 because it’s not usable in the real world..
