I was just looking into doing this. Stinks that Ford doesn't support Shortcuts.

It does sting a little that Tesla supports them and all the parts are there for Ford to do it themselves.. sigh

I've only been using it since yesterday, but would this really lock me out with barely an API calls? I thought Ford really cracks down if it is excessive, like that one utility or whatever that was pinging the car and the servers nonstop. That would be insane if me starting my car maybe max 10 times in a day causes it to be locked down.

I don’t know if it’s an issue of frequency or not. It might just be unauthorized access of any kind.

Yes they will, mainly since the call is coming from an outside service. That is what they are looking for. To them it's a security issue and risk.

Just to note about "burner accounts" they are still linked to the VIN of your car, you can and likely will loose access on any account tied to the WIN. Just not a good idea until (or if) Ford does it natively.

I thought with the new authentication method or whatever Ford laxxed up on the lockdowns? No one in the Reddit link is reporting getting locked out from this.

No since it's not the authentication they are worried about, or what goes against the TOS. It's third party applications that violates it.

I wouldn't take the chance unless Ford changes the TOS to allow it. Even if they are relaxed on it for now, that can change at any time and without warning. The agreement is being violated so they can do what they want.

I created these two shortcut screens on my phone over two years ago. Posted them somewhere on a thread here but I will post again. I never use them on the phone though, just thought it looked cool. I use Siri on my watch for all my shortcuts. Never have to pull my phone out or even touch my watch. I've been using them on a daily basis for almost three years.. They have stopped working a couple of times but after a short while, someone updates the shortcuts and they all work again.

I can already start the car from the Watch App which is very reliable, still don't understand why they don't do widgets/shortcuts

It's on the list after the frunk button, the navigate to nowhere bug, drive mode unavailable, the random AM radio at startup issue, increasing the 5s limit to 5.2s and full self driving.

I’ve got 2/3 of the Frunk done, just don’t have it in Sync yet. The other ones I don’t really get or don’t happen very often at all. Such a strange vehicle, like the relative you love seeing and being around but they weird af.

Have you had any issues with your account getting locked out? I have these setup too, but I haven’t used them since ford cracked down on third party account access and stated locking people’s accounts.

No I haven't. I'm not using any other third party apps besides Apple Shortcuts. I started using these February 2020 and other than Ford changing some code every once in a while (3 times in the last 3 years) never had them lock me out. I've also set up these shortcuts on two friend's Lightnings, at least 4 Mach-E's, two Rangers and a Maverick. None of them have had issues with Ford. Maybe we are just lucky? I don't use the Ford Pass app at all. I do have it in my phone but I never open it or use it for anything other than it allows PAAK to work in the background. I don't carry a fob.

Nice! I’ll have to re-set them up. I had one that used to run automatically every night to tell me if the car was locked, plugged in, and charging.

Shortcuts allow much more than just pressing a button (which you can do through FordPass): you can start automating when actions happen and that is a game changer.
