Is BlueCruise 1.4 worth it?

Do we even know the 1.4 improvements? Please tell me they've expanded BC coverage; it's looking woeful compared to SuperCruise coverage.

The Ford site only lists the features up to 1.3 since 1.4 has not been officially released.

I would assume that 1.4 just tweaks 1.3 slightly.

There is a setting to turn off speed limit sign recognition. I turned mine off and haven't missed it.

I don't think that setting turns off the slowing down that occurs prior to curves.

Most don't like when it just accelerates 20mph over that posted speed limit sign. ?

You can just hit the gas a bit if you need to. It won’t disable Bluecruise.

You are correct, there is a setting that allows you to turn off speed limit sign recognition. However, unless I am mistaken, to use the BC 1.3 hands free option, you are required to leave speed limit sign recognition active. I will check again to be for sure.

But think of it this way:
You paid about $4000 less than my '23 Job 1.

With the cost savings on yours, you can renew your BC subscription for less than what I paid for upfront (3 years).

As someone else with BC 1.0, you will never get 1.2. We’re all being upgraded straight to 1.4

I wonder if anyone has actually gotten a blue cruise version update. Seems rare. My 2022 premium had version 1.0 for 18 months before I sold It. My 23 GT has 1.2 or 1.3 not sure of the difference.

Based on the ~week I had a loaner 2023 MME with BC 1.2 back in Nov, I agree with all the assessments mentioned here. I posted my comments elsewhere on these forums. The only thing that bothered me was I wished that you could adjust how much the car would slow down for curves. It seemed to slow down too much. And unfortunately you couldn't just turn off the slowing down for curves without also turning off reading speed limit signs altogether.

I couldn't believe they didn't give a separate control over whether you wanted to turn off just the curve slowdown part to make it similar to BC 1.0. My hope is that BC 1.4 or higher (whatever they finally rollout) either gives separate settings or gives the ability adjust how aggressively it slows.

But overall thumbs up. I want it.

Will I pay for it again in 1 year from now when my 3 years expires? Depends on the price and prospect for new features at that time.

As to what you can get out of FDRS....

All of the updates for BC1.4 are in FDRS, except the APIM update to toggle the new features. So if you get fully up to date with FDRS, you will have the improved engagement.
