Is this a HVJB failure?

I have 2021 select AWD and this morning after being left out overnight in -15c I could not get it out of park. The display and system started fine but I got the "please stop safely" message, and wouldn't come out of park. Also every system (AWD, collisions, traction) gave A warning.

Had the same issue two weeks ago and that time I used a battery booster and was able to drive the car home. Dealer changed the 12v battery.

This time roadside assist tried to boost but no success. I put it in tow mode and had it towed to dealer.

When we came off the tow truck, it started fine and I put it in drive and took it around the block with no issues.

Yes, it’s possible, I would still have the dealer check the codes and make a determination.

We are seeing stuck contactors as a result of cold temperatures.

Which contactor? I had the parking brake issue fixed back before Christmas.

I think he means the relay contactors in the HVBJB.
So this is specifically the issue covered by the 22s41 letter.

That should cover up to 8 years right? I'm out of the basic warranty. I have one of the earliest Mach Es that rolled off the line.

8 years, or 100K.

This is weird. I went to the dealership to check the car last night around 10pm and retrieve something in the trunk. I just gave it a start and it was fine, after spening nearly 36 hours in sub -15 weather. This is definitely not a 12v battery issue. I agree it might be the contactor that sticks and unsticks.

I decided to bring the car home and leave it in my garage until Monday rather than on the street in front of the dealer with the key inside.

If it has a stuck contactor code in the history, I would still recommend getting the HVBJB replaced (under warranty), because it will happen again. You don’t want to be stranded randomly.

No worries man. I'm not driving it until tomorrow. Since my 12v is fine I can start the main display, activate it in neutral tow and push it one mile to the dealer if I have to.

I believe that was just replaced on my '21 MachE Premium AWD about a week ago. I was experiencing the same issue and had the 12V battery replaced. BTW, while I had to pay for the battery the contactor was replaced under warranty (30K miles).

HVBJB contactor. 7 hours of work. Courtesy car, covered by EV warranty.

If it weren't for the dealer's excellent service, this car would have been a royal PITA
