Well, after speaking to four different technicians at ChargePoint since Saturday and trying all the suggestions listed in this thread, the problem is unsolved. ChargePoint is going to FedEx me ANOTHER unit (my third EVSE). Very frustrating.
Did you try what I suggested? Two units being faulty points more to an issue with your internal network. Sure I suppose you could had gotten a bad batch, but given it was working then stopped, and now a new one does not work at all. Seems like there is a higher percentage of it being an in house issue.

Yes, you had solid suggestions, and I tried all of them. Beyond the reset of my cable modem and router, I tried to connect to both available WiFi frequencies (5 GHz and 2.4 GHz) and neither worked. Also cycled the ChargePoint EVSE by switching off the main breaker panel for 2 minutes. I had them delete my old account and I created a new account. That didn't work either. Also tried installing the ChargePoint app on my iPad and tried activating from there. No dice.

I agree with you that two separate units having issues seems very unlikely, although the replacement unit was connecting to my WiFi network (just wasn't pairing to my account).

I will report back when I get my next replacement. Hoping for a happy ending to this story :/

I doubt it has anything to do with the car, as the new ChargePoint Flex failed to connect/initialize and/or connect to my account before I even plugged it into the car. My guess is that the WiFi circuitry and/or antennae in the EVSE are just unreliable. Two units in row seems a bit unlucky, though.
Its only because it was 2 units I thought of the car. Youll get it straightened out.

I'll give ChargePoint credit for owning up to the issue and spending time with me to work through the technical issues, but I'm certainly less confident in their hardware, now that I've just gone through two units in a row that failed to communicate with my WiFi network. At least it still juices the car overnight, so I'll take this as glass half full.
you sure it's not your router HW or router config? might be worth picking up another router at BestBuy or something and seeing if that does the trick?

Yup. That's why I decided to use a Wallbox for my second charger. At least now I can just switch between two apps for the two cars instead of having to log out and in to the ChargePoint app with different accounts all the time.

I've asked ChargePoint several times why they deter people from buying more than one of their products by not allowing more than one on an account, and they just say that their customers haven't been requesting it. Ummm.......Am I not a customer?
I read reviews that said the Wallbox had pretty bad connectivity reliability issues. I guess you're not finding that to be the case?

This is strange -- I bought two different ChargePoints at different times, and both had no issues getting set up and staying connected. One's been going strong for over a year.

I don’t think so, as my first ChargePoint worked with my current router (Netgear) without issue for six months before crapping out. My router is not very old and has been reliable.

Only thing I could think of is that potentially one of the software updates they push to the Chargepoint may have changed something in terms of compatibility. They do seem to update the charger firmware on a regular basis (the charger goes white when this happens for a minute or two I believe)

I am going to try a new WiFi router just in case. It's honestly the only truly unknown variable. Although my current router is working fine with other devices, I think it may be the wildcard here. It also gives me an excuse to buy a router with a signal booster, which is something I've wanted anyway. I'll report back!

Before trying a new router, remove the password on your Guest network, and then try connecting to it.

By the way, I always connect devices that have no need to connect with my computers to my Guest network, charger included.

If you have an old router, it might be only 2.4ghz which might not be as high performing with all long a range as the 5ghz of newer routers. Your charger can handle 5ghz as I recall and I'd make sure to use that if you try a new one.

Interestingly, the ChargePoint techs told me that their customers were having better luck with 2.4 gHz frequencies; their troubleshooting list includes that variable and they were recommending using only the 2.4 gHz option. Because I didn't have luck with either frequency (my Netgear has both 2.4 and 5.0), we'll see what the new router can do. Fingers crossed.

2.4 GHz can pass through walls better than 5 GHz. It is a good recommendation on this case, unless your router is rather close to the garage.
