We can try repeatability on another Mach-E later today. My PaaK has stopped working.
Frank, your PAAK may 'come and go' as the BlueTooth connections may (randomly) get dropped and need to be re-established. This should not require re-installation of the whole shebang, just re-establishing the BT connection, or using your DoorCode+BackupStartCode if it is uncooperative.

I have found that if auto-unlock doesn't work as you walk up when using your PAAK, it might re-establish the BT if you open your FordPass app on phone and press the UNLOCK button from the app.... and then if your MME doesn't recognize your phone as a Key... press the 'Start' on the phone App .... it might 're-establish' the BT and recognize your phone after that...

How do you know he didn’t mean another wife? :p
I think the idea of a second wife would probably be the MOST expensive option.

Hopefully, you have not yet received the post-purchase survey so you can let them know what you think about their harsh (and incorrect) position.

I have not gotten a Survey yet... which I'm finding a little odd considering I took delivery 2 weeks ago... but I haven't been contacted from Ford Credit for a payment yet either ?!

I did however write a couple scathing reviews on the Dealership: Google, Yelp, and DealerReviews

Received 2nd Fob from Car & Truck Remotes. Made appt with Dealer. When I showed up for the morning appt, Service Manager apologized and told me they were not yet ready, waiting to hear back from Ford on an update. In the afternoon, I dropped off my car and both the original and new fobs. 45 minutes later, they said they were done. $145 for programming (they had to buy an expensive gadget to be able to do the programming for the Mach E). Both fobs work! I also noticed that PaaK seemed to be working right away most of the time now. Go, FORD, GO!

For me it seemed the option that Ford charged an extra $100 for the car to everyone and the lines of me then through 2 sets if keys in a safe spot.

Or a few people who need it pay $100+ for a second key for the wife /mistress /mother in law.

Is a new era of cars. For me Ford got it right.

...only if Backup StartCode can be set!

It's only 'ok' to have one Fob if it is possible to set a Backup StartCode, whether PAAK actually works every time or not is irrelevant once you have the Code as a 'virtual spare key'.

right now, if you cannot get thru initial config of PAAK, you cannot set a BackupCode. THAT IS NOT OK. Either software needs to change to allow setting Backup Code independent of PAAK, or Dealerships need to know how to set up PAAK on somebodies phone, set the BackupCode, and delete the Phone.

Here's my CarandTruckRemotes.com key fob. Now I just need a car to go with it.
Me too! Same FOB from same company. It's too bad we had to buy these in the first place.

There is no physical key lock location on the car. There is no cutting the key insert for the Mach E. It's included in the fob because it appears to be the same Fob they use for other cars. If they are charging separately for cutting the insert tell them you don't need or want that part. Either way it is way less than an hour of labor so it shouldn't change the cost either way
That is the typical situation where the production guys said: We have thousands of these key fobs, what do we do with them - Just use them with the MME - But the MME has not emergency key - People won't notice that.

I just got my second FOB programed by the dealer, it came from the same place.

The good part is that it works, bad part we had to pay for it.

I had my dealer programed it for me, I combined it with a 2 day software update stay over.

My FOB was ~ $92 and programming $75. My car was made March 4th so hopefully I don’t need any updates by the dealer. When was your car made? How do you know if your car needs it? When I query the car it says I don’t need any updates as it is up to date already.

Right now we have two types of updates, OTA and the ones done by the dealer (Ford Engineering Provided). On my MME they updated the various modules and I am sure there are always constant updates going on. One issue is that many of these as of yet are not pushed via OTA (if ever). Others in the know might be able to comment better on this. Ford really has not come clean on this yet, I will leave it at that.

I am 100% sure there is an update for your MME as many others. The question comes down to if the update does anything better or anything different for you. There is zero communication on what was these updates are for or what was improved upon. I went for the FOB, so I asked to be updated at the same time. What I didn't realize was that the updates can take several hours to complete. They started at 2:30 and finished the next day, I have no idea why it's so slow but it is.

I’m pretty sure my car received an OTA update because it says it had an update that squished some bugs among other things. I think I’m OK with the OTA ones it’s just that I don’t know about the ones the dealer has to update and like I said, March 4th wasn’t that long ago but maybe it does. Where would you think I should look? I’m going to do a search on the pertinent forums to see if I can gain any knowledge about those. I’d be taking t to my local dealer here (about 3 blocks away) and hope they don’t give m e a hard time because I didn’t purchase it from them. They simply didn’t have the color I was looking for.(they actually had none when I was looking).

Any dealer will be happy to update, it's a warranty thing, they get paid and you don't have to pay. Folks who have access to OASIS can look, we as the consumer are not able to. It's not something you can use the center screen to get the info on. Again these are different from the OTA updates.

The following modules were updated by the dealer on my MME

PCM
IPMA
SOBDMC
BECM
OBCC
SOBDM
DSP

The dealer can connect to your MME and tell you fairly quickly if there are any to apply. However this does not mean it's need or necessary. In my case I have been working with Ford on the interference issue, these updates did not fix it. The FE was not sure if it would, so he said give it a try.

My wife keep telling me “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” and will accuse me of screwing things up unnecessarily. Maybe she’s right but I’m still going to check this out.
