Is the Ford unit supported by something other than just the cord? Please tell me it is...

Alternately, you could attach a small shelf/bracket to the left of the switch location, rotate the Ford unit 90 degrees counterclockwise, and lay it on the shelf/bracket so it is better supported.

The Ford unit comes with a support bracket that screws into the 2x4 en dos lugares. So yes, it is supported per the installation instructions without any cable tension.
