Hey all, I have updated my instructions. These are intended to supplement the videos. I hope people watch those first.

If anyone familiar with install wants to proofread, please let me know of any feedback.

Hey @supared. Are there any real drawbacks to going with the “always on” option besides the obvious? I keep on going back and forth between them. Personally I don’t think it’s going to bug me if it’s always on. And if it truly doesn’t pull that much power I don’t see it really affecting my range.

Hey all,
Just stumbled upon this thread for the very first time last night. Had I found out about this earlier, I would have definitely joined the Kickstarter!
At first, the idea of doing an install like this seemed wayyy beyond me. However, after watching all the install videos () and reading the updated instructions, I decided to pull the trigger!
Planning to eventually post pics/videos after I receive and install my light-up pony (estimated mid-August delivery).
Also, I saw that it was asked several times in the thread but only provided once, so again, the link to purchase your own illuminated pony is here: https://shop.your3rdway.com/

Man does this pony look NICE!

Weirdly enough, I could only get it to turn on via the "always on" wiring option. For some reason, it didn't power up when I tapped into the green/orange BCM wire.

I'm going to test an alternate method that John suggested, of tapping into a brown/yellow wire that is supposed to behave the same way and power the pony whenever the headlines are on. Going to attempt this once it cools a bit and will report back. This heat is brutal!

But for the time being, I'm enjoying seeing my pony always come ALIVE when I approach the car!

Looks great. I’d definitely be interested in seeing how the brown/yellow wire goes. I have the high series lights as well so I figure I’m going to run into the same problem as you next month. I kept going back and forth on whether I wanted to put in the extra work to run it to the BCM. Knowing that there’s a chance it won’t work if I run it to the BCM makes my decision a lot easier to go with the always on option.

What do y’all think of the 6k color, looking at some videos it seems a little whiter that stock, but the other option of 3k seems like it’ll be more of an amber. Are there any comparison pictures?

I put 3000K, but it will more likely be 4000K. The point being that I will test it and confirm it is a better match if that is what the owner is looking for.

This is the first Job 1 Premium I have seen this on. They have all had 12v on that green orange wire, so I am definitely looking forward to learning more on this particular case.

I missed out on the Kickstarter and this looks great! Is there forum member pricing? Even if not, this looks like it is worth the money

I'll be waiting for all of the colors to be released. I want to get a blue lit pony.

So I received my pony today (Thanks John!) and set to installing immediately after work. I decided to just do the always on option, but I'm not sure if I've done something wrong or what. The emblem is always lit up regardless of the car's state. I believe I've got the right wires tapped(see pic).

Is there some sort of wire fail on my part that could be causing this?

Edit - it does eventually shut off, but it seems like it's around 10 minutes. Is that expected? Doing anything to waken the car(shutting the hood, for example) seems to turn it back on.

Yeah, that appears to be the way it works. After installing mine I was worried that "always on" really meant always on but you're right that it switches off after 15 minutes. It's strange that it doesn't go off with the rest of the lights after leaving the car. It goes on when anything wakes the car and also goes on and stays on while the car is charging. I looked at the security camera footage inside my garage to see what was happening, it came on when my car started charging at its scheduled time and switched off 15 minutes after it finished four hours later. I'm not enthused about taking my frunk apart again but I really don't like this setup, once the weather cools off a little I'm going to run the wire through the firewall to the inside fuse panel. It looks great, though!
