I've noticed once when home charging and at a DCFC while sitting inside there's a loud rush of liquid noise behind the dash. Almost as if it's bleeding itself of air.

Any idea what that is? To me it sounds like there's not enough fluid.

Also, my one DCFC only hit 47 kWh going from 50% to 71% in 24 degree weather.

It's likely just the battery cooling system. I don't think it's cause for concern.

I've seen in one forum the suggestion of putting in the off position the e-heat will help speed up the charging rate.

You should hear my Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid when it runs the engine to cool during charging. Sounds like a jet spooling up for takeoff.
It runs the engine during charging? That seems counterintuitive and dangerous. What if it's in a closed garage?

it's just the gas flowing to the gas tank. perfectly normal.

It is. Somewhere between a dishwasher and a furnace. I was surprised by it too.
Ok so someone else has heard this, good because I didn't record it.

Can hear, plain as day, water rushing through empty tubes.

The charger is 95% efficient, or thereabouts.... which means that 5% of the charge power gets dumped off as heat, which triggers the MME to turn on the appropriate cooling loop for the motor/charger/dc-dc. It is a low-pressure system, and probably drains into a resevoir. With no other road noise to mask the sound, you can hear the circulation pump and fluid 'drainback' into the resevoir.

....most likely....

the lower the outside temp, the sooner the fast charge will cut off. The Lithium batteries *should not* be pushed up to full capacity with fast-charge normally stopping at 80%, and cold temps I'm sure bring that down even further on purpose.

dtbaker got it right. You're hearing the fluid flow into the tank under the hood when it returns. Take the cover off and you may even be able to see the coolant flowing into the reservoir. It has a tube on the top which is return and a tube on the bottom which is the send line. Since the fluid level is below the return line you hear it splashing into the reservoir.

hmmm... in the manual mentions the fact you will hear those noises when charging. Since the manual mentions the noise i would assume that it is normal?
