but how often do you have a flat that the fix a flat in the trunk won't fix. In forty plus years of driving I've only had one failure in a car on the road, where the tire separated belts and flatted, everything else has been a nail with a slow leak, and actually never used a fix flat inflator because it was always a slow leak
Twice in the last 20 years. Broke a valve stem off in a car wash in Alaska and ran over a piece of metal that cut a 2” gash in the tread. The gash was particularly annoying as it happened late at night 3 blocks from my house where I had a nice floor jack and pneumatic wrench.
I'm wondering if the loaner wheel would work in this situation. Middle of the night, does tesla have 24 hr road service, ie would they have wheels with local tow companies to make the wheel available. That seems like the potential for a lot of loaner wheels.
My mother got a nail in a tire. Then she got a nail in another tire. When I inquired what was going on, she said "there is a street with all new construction going on". I said "do you have to drive down that street?", and she replied "well, if I don't, it's a minute longer".
That's funny but it's a real option out there.
