Mach Drop Build Updates

I’m so confused... My Mach Drop was supposed to be built the week of January 4th. Then the tracker said January 15th. But then the tracker said in production around the 6th? The tracker still says January 15th in production. I’m not sure if it was built or not. No ship date or anything past “in production January 15th”. I called my dealer yesterday and he said “It says in production!” I think he was looking at the same Ford tracking site. I remember people were able to tell where their car was along the production line at one point as I recall member’s quoting “my car just left paint”. Anyone know how they were able to track it with that level of detail? As a side note, my original FWD/ER premium order which my dealer never canceled and which is linked to my user profile is scheduled to arrive at the the dealership tomorrow supposedly. I wonder what ADM the dealer is going to make on that one? They said that my original order was going to be the first car delivered in NY. Greeaaaat! Why did I switch to a FIRST edition again?

Unfortunately that level of detail has to come from an insider at Ford. A few people work for Ford, or have friends that look it up. Lucky ducks. ?

The rest are just stuck waiting for the public side lookups, or a good dealer contact.

Thought we could start a thread for machdrop updates specifically. Since we r still in the dark, let’s pls share what we learn. My dealer confirmed my machdrop order is in the system but no build date last I heard. I converted a premium to FE.

Late last year I was given a build date of 1st week of January. Just got word it has been built (2 weeks late) and have been given VIN #. I am told to expect delivery in 3-4 weeks. Here’s hope.....remain strong!

Yep, we are gaining sunlight at 7 minutes a day now. My car is already on its way. Should be in KC any tIme - then on to Seattle and a date with a barge to Anchorage. Estimated delivery 1st week of March. Not a Mach Drop, though - Standard FE order.

a long haul, well worth it.

You could always take the original order and let them keep the Mach drop.

Trust me-I’m thinking about it. The issue was when I placed my initial reservation it was on the day of the reveal and I was so excited I didn’t really pay attention to what I was ordering. I immediately wanted to change the reservation but my dealer couldn’t figure out how to change it. The Mach Drop seemed like the perfect chance for me to get the AWD I wanted and a little earlier for just $800 more. Wah-Wah-Wah-Wah-(Trumpet Flare)

I don't really understand why it needs to take 5 weeks. That indicates a lot of extended sitting around at one place or another.

Mine just moved to Primary Status of "Awaiting Shipment" (from "In Production"). Status was In Production for a long time. My Production Date shows 1/15/21 too, so most remaining MachDrops should likely be moving to "Awaiting Shipment" this week, I would think.

I assume KC is the next stop once it leave the plant. Actual dealership arrival is probably still ~4 weeks away.

So that should mean it was finished on 1/15 and is waiting shipping info. Once you have shipping info that should update the ETA end date. Once it actually ships you'll get a shipped date. At least that is how I understand it.

It does. The same problem it's been -- COVID-created backlogs and shortage of shipping capacity.

The satellite photo from mid-Dec at the plant showed something like 4000 MMEs, IIRC. I'm guessing by now 8000+ have been produced. Only a few have actually been delivered yet, so there's presumably nearly 8000 in the shipping queues fighting for limited resources. (Compounded by whatever the "recheck" issue was where some had to stop ship and/or return to KC for double-checks.)

You're right though, most of that it surely sitting and waiting for it's turn. I assume total time moving is no more than a week.
