The red stitching is cool. Not $3600 cool, but cool nonetheless. ?
So the body color flanges are worth $500, the colored calipers $500, and the stitching $500 - with the higher resale value later being worth at least $2000. So you broke even but got a better looking car ;)

Could Ford have timed that any worse as fas as the tax situation goes? That is the real insult.
Well, sort of. Since it's a build date instead of a delivery date, and most tax credit criteria triggers are based on delivery date, it could actually be worse to have a mid-Dec build date and have it tantalizingly close (but no cigar). Or for some people, being left in limbo on having to move money around in the right tax year (like an IRA withdrawal) without being sure which year it will show up. Now we know for sure.

But yes, even though it's the build date instead of the delivery date, Jan 4 is still like "Seriously?!?".

Glad you said it, because I was going to if you didn't :)

I can sympathize with that feeling, but you really had a tiny chance of getting a car in 2020 anyway. Honestly, the more I look at the black wheel flanges the more I want to have them painted the body color - the FE looks so much better in that respect. So, yeah its a lost gamble but you'll get a better looking car with nicer stitching and a better future resale.
Agree.

In an ironic little twist......If the dealer hadn't offered me an FE the week prior to the Mach Drop then I probably would have pursued a Mach Drop FE thinking it would 100%, certainly without a doubt, bank on it, have an arrival date much sooner than my originally converted order for a Premium with a 10058161 reservation number.

Well, the build date came in for that car today. 1/4/20. Isn't that just perfect?

Crazy, isn't it? Glad I didn't have a 1st day reservation too, as some of those have build dates well after others reportedly way down the list.

I know it's only 6-8 weeks difference for many of these, and in 3 years we won't even remember the difference. But still, if Ford plans to keep using a pre-order reservation system, they need to look up the word "reservation" and what it's supposed to mean.

Thats right - while we all can cut Ford some slack, what has transpired with the Mach Drop and the order scheduling leaves scope for lot of improvement in clarity and communication.

Apparently it means we get to be right up front in Pamplona with a front row view of Santo Domingo Street.

You forgot the $3000 Grabber Blue option. So you are coming way ahead with the Mach Drop.

Mine's getting built week of Jan 11 but my dealer said "Too early for a VIN"... Not sure if he's just saying this or he looked and got nothing?

I got the 8:48AM email saying my build week is Jan 11th.

I put my $500 down on 7/23/2020 (1 week after reserving a Bronco). That instantly turned into an order.

I'm excited especially because the Bronco is going to be delayed.

The Mach-e will be replacing my 2016 Fusion Energi. I have a level 2 charger and 36 solar panels. :)
Bronco or Mach E turned into order? If it's Bronco it must be Bronco Sport?

While looking up the definition of “reservation”, they should look up the definition of “First Edition” . . .

So, there's been a lot of ragging on the First Edition moniker. Considering all Ford has done to keep the Mach E on track despite COVID-19, the fact that all of the First Editions seem to be scheduled in the first ~ 6 weeks of production sounds pretty First Edition to me.
