Your car is the first one that I've seen with a "1" in the 13th place on the VIN.....

Where is ChasingCoral? How does that line up with your projected 10,000 th unit projection?
We've already heard that VINs are assigned at scheduling and do not reflect build order.

Yes but it can be a guide. In many cases they do go down the line in order. It just isnt in exact order but it isn't off by much unless something unexpected happens. I used the partial VIN sequences published last week to determine about 900 units per week which turned out to be pretty close to actual.

In the whole scope of things, it doesn't matter because production quantities have not been constant since VIN sequences were assigned. Even the PP units have VINs.

If you look on an invoice (window sticker), there is the 4 digit rotation number. That is the order they are built in for a particular plant.

My MachDrop build date 1/4 has 1 in that place as well but my Premium with a 2/8 build date has a 0 in that place i.e. earlier number and there is 1500 number difference between them.
I am thinking the Premium was scheduled earlier with a VIN but given a later build date but the MachDrop was scheduled later so higher VIN number but given an earlier build date being an FE ?

Yeah. That does seem unusual to me. The Mach Drop cars appear to be very much a wildcard in this entire process.

My Machdrop VIN ends in 10xxx too. It appears all the Machdrops have 1/4 builds. And so far it appears they're the last of the FEs (NA anyway). FEs appear to be semi-weighted to the front end of production, but only semi. Basically scattered throughout the first 8 weeks along with a bunch of Premiums and leftover FCTPs. Meaning we'll get our FEs more than a month after many have gotten their Premiums.

I think we're knocking ourselves out looking for patterns that have way more unknown criteria to it than we wish it did.

My MachDrop VIN, also scheduled for 1/4, ends in 104xx too.

They seem to be ...not wildcards necessarily but we now know theirs VINs were given later than others. At this point it does not matter - hoping the build dates stick and hoping for shortest delivery time what ever that may be.

So, at the end of MY fiasco, my dealer just called me. The good news: They found my Mach Drop order, and it is scheduled for build the week of Jan 4th. The interesting news: They placed the order in the wrong dealer's order bank. I ordered mine and told them Crest Ford Flat Rock, but they sent it to Crest Ford Center Line. Thankfully, they are the same owners so they will just do a swap. Incompetence at the fault of the Mach Drop team. But at least I have an answer, and something to look forward to. ?

Funny thing is, this build is a couple weeks sooner than my original premium order, which is scheduled for the week of Jan 25th. That order can't be canceled since it's already scheduled. So my dealer will have an extra Mach-E Premium lying around. "Don't worry, someone will buy it... and fast".

Glad to hear it's cleared up.

It doesn't really surprise me they got a similarly-named dealerships mixed up. This is why I hate doing things on the phone rather than online. The chances of getting a small detail misheard or mis-transcribed is always high. A name misspelled... 2 numbers transposed... a detail forgotten... an item misunderstood... And worst of all - no written audit trail!!

I intentionally did nearly all my communications with Ford and my dealer by email, except for the initial MachDrop call which (unfortunately) had to be by phone.
