Does anyone know if this is made possible by a hardware update or simply a software update that maybe us 2021 owners will be able to get later?

How do you know?
Dealership told me this is essentially the software for the 2022 and said one of the bennifits is extra battery capacity. They had a communication from Ford that they showed me it also updates DC fast charging and will fast charge at 40kw from 80-90 and 20kw from 90-100.

It‘s not documented that the usable battery capacity is increased. That’s what I’m trying to find.

Does anyone know the ratio: highway/city that was used in the calculations?

I pick up the car today hopefully and I will ask them for what documentation they can provide

If you could get a picture of the document that they mentioned, that would be awesome. I've already updated my car, but I can't figure out any way to tell if the usable battery capacity was increased or not. This is where detailed release notes would be very handy.

I just noticed that they updated the ordering page with the 91 kWh usable battery and new EPA range estimates.

Select RWD - 247 miles +17 mi
Select AWD - 224 miles +13 mi

Premium RWD - 247 miles +17 mi
Premium AWD - 224 miles +13 mi
Premium Ext. Range RWD - 303 miles +3 mi
Premium Ext. Range AWD - 277 miles +7 mi

California RT1 RWD - 314 miles +9 mi
California RT1 AWD - 312 miles

GT - 270 miles
GTPE - 260 miles
(GT's ranges are unchanged but 91 kWh usable battery has been updated)
Premium awd er 277? Yeah, if u drive like an old man. More like 224. How do u confirm its got the er vs reg battery, other than the sticker and vin?

Other than sticker and vin?

Weigh the car
Peek way under the hood

It’s probably just easier to look at the sticker or VIN.

EPA estimates for cars have always required you drive like an old man.

The badging - if there is an X included, it’s extended range. If there is a 4 included it’s AWD. It can of course have an X and a 4.
