Dude: That's nice, what is it?
Me: Ford Mustang Mach E
Dude: Mustang? What engine does it have?
Me: It's electric, all battery. No gas motor.
Dude: No shit!? I bet the thing runs like a scalded dog!!

I tell them:

I'll die in a snowstorm because that's what happens to EV owners these days. The highway is littered with dead EVs inhabited by the corpses of people who couldn't manage the batteries in their phones and had no business buying an EV in the first place.

I had an autozone employee say he’d love a Mach e since he’d have room for his kids vs a standard mustang, “if only it had a Coyote in it”

I had a guy the commented about my MME today. He said "Is that the new electric Mustang? Too bad it doesn't have a V8 in it."

I told him "It would add extra weight and decrease the range to less than 300 miles."

He just closed his mouth and drove away.

I've seen the response that says, "Hope you don't live in California with all the power outages and the fires. You won't be able to charge your car if there is no power." I didn't realize EV batteries go completely dead when you get home and you always have to charge them up every night in order to drive the next day.

"California even told everyone to not charge their EVs as it will cause to much issue with the power grid."

So many uninformed people.

I've had one of those people try to tell me that the power grid will fail before we reach 30% EVs on the road. He thinks everyone is going to charge them all at the exact same time and all night, every night. ?

And assumes the status quo in terms of total grid capacity. Like we can't build more power plants... Interestingly our local utility has asked residents to notify them when they purchase an EV so they can plan for future expansion, to address the second sentence above :)

I am always glad to read stories like those included on this thread. It means my choice to be as anti-social continues to be the wisest choice.

That said I have had nothing but positive interactions with others while charging the car. My wife even helped out a new Tesla owner who had zero clue on the various levels of charging. He was extremely thankful.

I can think of several responses to the question
"What are you going to do if you have to take a trip to Florida?" .... But they are all mean and I've been told if I cannot say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
Have you been talking to my wife behind my back? ?

All positive reactions so far with mine. Interesting to see people walk around it curiously in parking lots. Funny one was when a guy asked if it had a v6, I wanted to say v10 but just simply said no actually it’s all electric and the response I got was “hmm wow“.

I hit a coyote in mine. Didn’t go so well for the coyote. Moral of the story: no matter how hard you try a coyote will not help the Mach-E run better.

I'd like to share a verbal exchange of this past weekend while I was plugging in the MME at a local (casino) parking garage.
I know there may be other posts that are similar to this topic, and would like to hear from others. Perhaps a running thread, sticky or other can be created to share just the comments from the public. No need to debate, just interested in hearing what the public says and some possible responses. Here is the exchange:

Man (walking past EV charging bank): "I hope that thing has a gas engine"
Me: "Nope, all electric"
Man: "What are you going to do if you have to take a trip to Florida?" (from MA)
Me: "Take a plane"
Man: "Ya?"
Me: "Its cheaper"
(Man gets in lifted diesel pickup and drives away)
I agree 100%. It is foolish to drive over 500 miles in any vehicle. Take a plane or a train and get there rested and safer than driving.

You’re meant to put it in the frunk, not try to run it down.
And saw the pics, Road runner.

I’ve got said, cool that’s the four door mustang. Can’t wait to hear it when you drive out of here.
no idea it was electric, just knew it looked cool.
