I leased for 3 years with a 15k annual mileage allowance my 2024 Mach E with a 5k upfront cash payment and a 3k trade in. I also purchased GAP insurance from my auto insurer which covers the spread between what I owe and the value of the vehicle. The GAP insurance costs $35 dollars per 6 months premium period. I think I am covered. For a total, god forbid that should ever happen . The lease is $570 per month.

My next will be a Lucid. Likely by the time I am ready to buy the new Earth mid sized SUV will be out. That being said out of the current models as a realtor I would drive something nice. My insurance agent warned me that most Kia and Hyundai models are extremely expensive to insure because of the theft issues and having had about a month of EV6 rentals for me it would rule out anything made by Kia and Hyundai.

Volvo XC40 EV ? Polestar 3 would be nice for low range loss in the cold. Used Lucid Air ?
I wonder if those issues apply to the EV's as they never had those ignititioon issues.

I priced a gravity yesterday.....then I saw they only have the top trim at the moment. So I will pass on that. I really like the air quite a bit and maybe in a few years I can get a decent used one

I am in the same boat, $120k is more than I am willing to pay for a vehicle. That being said you can get some huge bargains used a Air GT for around $60k is quite a bargain a Audi Etron GT or Porsche Tycan for $50-60k is also great value.

It will be about two years before I pull the trigger by that the some used Lucid Gravitys will be available as well as the new Lucid Earth ( a $50k mid sized SUV)

In some parts of the country, you can get a decent multi bedroom home for $120,000

Just some pricing perspective! lol

Hoping this will start a conversation with those in the forum who have either swapped to something else or have another EV in their house

I'm a real estate agent that drives 3,000 miles a month.

Since buying my mach e gt I added a toddler to the mix..we also have 3 dogs. MN winters and a road trip to Chicago a few times a year.

Currently leaning slightly used EV9. They aren't dropping new ones on the market until the 2026s and that's supposed to be second half of the year.

R1s is hard to find a decent price used and all the 0% is on the 100k version.

Lightning they are dealing left and right on as the sales have plummeted.

Thanks in advance!
The Hummer EVs looks awesome. Just saying....

Look again at the Air

Enjoying my Lucid Air lease right now. But OP would blow through the lease miles

I sold my 2018 Model 3 Performance and bought a certified used BMW iX. It is just over a year old with 10,000 miles and I got it for more than 40% below the MSRP of a brand new iX. Since it is certified, it comes with an extra year of warranty with unlimited mileage. I have had zero issues with it so far, but if and when I need service, there are 5 BMW dealerships in my area.

I love the look of the Lucid, but would be concerned about access to service.

Definitely check out where Lucid has service where you live. Here in MN they have a mobile service

After continuing to hate dealers heres where I'm at

Air- really like it but it's a sedan. I have a family of 3 we are continuing to try to grow as well as three dogs. A stroller will eat that trunk immediately.

Ev9- pricing just not possible with such an unplanned upgrade and no real down payment saved for this atm.

Rivian- payment is a stretch, then my insurance goes up 75 bucks a month

My likely options

Used lightning - cheaper payment than my mach e. More range. Ventilated seats and usable sunroof, more than enough space for hauling the family can even fit the dogs in the back seat with it folded up. But I drive around Minneapolis and St Paul so I know parking can be rough. Also used so most of the depreciation is out and typically used trucks hole values better

Mach e 24 gt or lesser - can get in for about $50 more than my current payment and enjoy the fact I get performance gt with no 5 second limits, better blue cruise, better heater, weird seats which I worry about for extended drives, and no real gain in space.

I'm leaning lightning atm

I understand that the Rivian might be out of the picture based on $$, but as someone who left the MME and went to an R1T, I can't tell you how happy I am. I would strongly consider it over the Lightning if it's a truck you're looking for. I have my name in the pot for an R2 as well.

The R1T is one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. I doubt I'll ever go back to Ford. My M3P is better than the MME in my opinion. There's quite a few members here who have switched to Rivian (I know because they used referral codes from me), and I don't think a single one of them would go back.

The hours, and quite possibly days, of my life that I've saved by not having to deal with a dealership is well worth every dime. 2 months ago Rivian called me and said, "we have a 12v battery that we want to proactively change on your vehicle based on data we received. Can we send a tech to your home to replace it?" The next day a technician came to my house, swapped the battery and I didn't pay for a thing. Ford would have waited until I was stranded, then told me they would replace it 2 months from now and make me pay for a loaner.

Nice seeing you pop up here. Which vehicle do you plan to replace with the R2? I made a reservation last year too since it’s fully refundable just to keep my options open. Since I don’t have an R1, and likely won’t go for a tri-motor, I am guessing it is 2027 for me before I would have to decide. Still very much enjoying the Mach-E in the interim!

I have no idea... I would have likely replaced the Rivian with a Rivian, but since I purchased that truck I've also purchased things like large dump trailers, and last week I purchased a new Kubota L series tractor. So, the more and more I buy things that require a truck make it less and less likely that I'll be able to live without a truck. I'm creating a conundrum for myself.

You all need to see an R2 in person. It doesn’t look impressive at all and the wheels / tires are freakishly large (some designer must have smoked some good shit). I canceled my reservation as soon as I saw it. The pics are not a good representation.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m rooting for Rivian to succeed, big time.

The Lightning doesn't have greater range at highway speeds. It's shaped like a brick.

Our other vehicle is a ā€˜25 EV9 GT-Line. I highly recommend it. It’s not as sporty as the Mach-E, but in every other respect it’s insanely good, and we got an amazing lease deal on it.
