is it possible to pre heat the battery for od- hoc trips? I noticed that they want to you set a time and day routine but my day does not go that way. If i know I am leaving in 30 minutes, is there a way to pre-heat the battery so that I can do this before my trip?
I do not have regular times each day that I leave with the car. Each day is different. I can not find anywhere that it addresses manual pre-conditioning of the battery

@Mach-Lee has a really good post on different methods to warm the battery, highly recommend a read. At the very least, it explains more in-depth how the process works and how long it takes:

Your best option is through ford pass set a departure time 30 min prior to leaving and set the cabin temp to off. Mach-lee tested this last year and found it does heat the battery. But remember depending on temperature your battery may need more than 30 min

Yes, in that situation I would just make a departure time for 30 minutes in the future. You'll get some heating that way. Or if you read that link, you can make a departure time each morning because the battery will stay somewhat warm the rest of the day.

Well, you'd think "remote start" would do that, but alas it doesn't (at least according to https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/mach-lees-cold-weather-charging-strategies.24548/)
Exactly! If the car is plugged in and you remote start, why wouldn't it heat the battery? As I type this though I have a couple of ideas why it wouldn't:

1. Default remote start is only 15 minutes, which likely wouldn't be enough time to heat the battery and warm the cabin. (you could tap to add 15 more minutes in the app, 30 prob still not quite enough for battery and cabin on a really cold day)
2. Remote start is more about prepping the cabin, so all of that juice going toward the battery would result in people being unhappy that the cabin is not as warm as they expect.

#2 is a great point in really cold climates, especially if the windows are iced over. You'd want / need the full 30 minutes full blast of heat to thaw things out. I guess there is some method to the madness.

Ok I'm convinced a separate "precondition now" button would be useful separate from the remote start!

Thankfully Departure Times, when set from the FP App, is working now. All last winter, it was very unreliable to set a time from your phone, necessitated doing it in the car which is not a solution. But it came back early in the fall and has worked well ever since. Thank you Ford for finally fixing it.

This seems pretty much correct. If you look at what happens during a departure time event, it warms the battery for some period usually > 1 hr in advance since it does take time to raise the battery temp, and then for the last 15 minutes it flips to warm the cabin and run the defrosters. The Mach-E isn't capable of doing both (to a strong enough extent) at the same time, as has been called out here in other threads.

Have we proved they fixed it? Yes, the notes say that, but have we proved it?
