I tried a couple searches and didn't find anything. If you have the map light on when turning off the car there is no (reasonable) way to turn it off. To replicate:
  1. Park
  2. Turn on a map light
  3. Turn off the car
  4. All the interior lights come on and pressing the button for the map light does nothing
  5. Exit and lock the car with the fob. All the interior lights will go out except the original map light which remains on.
  6. If you open the door to turn the light off all the interior lights come on and you can't turn it off
If you turn off the car with the map light on the only timely way to resolve the problem is to lock the car with the fob while you're still in it to get the interior lights to go off then you can turn off the map light. But this requires you to remember the map light was on prior to all the lights coming on. The car should cancel the map light request once locked from the fob and turn the map light off with the rest of the interior lights.

Is there better way to deal with this that I'm not thinking of?

There is a button on the right where the dome lights are that turns all the lights on and off. I have just hit this and it syncs them all back together.

Sometimes you forget or your pesky kids turn them on and do not turn them off when you are exiting the car. Mine have done this and I have to go back (after scowling at them) and done what I said above, quick button push.

yeah I think there is a bug with the lighting in the car. My daughter sometimes leaves the light above the rear passenger seat on, and if I open the door and push the button to turn it off and close the door, it's still not off. The only way I can get it to go off is to roll down the windows with the app and then push the light button and then it turns off. This may just be intended behavior with a weird logic, or it could be a bug. I can bring it up with some folks.

I'll try this tomorrow when I get home, but I think I already tried this to no success.

My little angels leave them on constantly, luckily it doesnt impact the battery, probably have left mine on for days without noticing.

Um, there’s a button to disable the dome light FYI?

I’ve had a similar issue when the grandkids turn on a light in the back.

When the door is open, click the button on the right, which turns the lights off when door open. You can then see what was left on. Then click the button on the left to turn all lights on or off. That will get it tuned off.

Hi there! If you're still experiencing this concern, send us a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, and I can look into your concerns on my end.

Same here. And it's not like she's reading...

That may not be a bug. Someone could be in the car and they want the light on while you leave and lock the doors.
Personally, I would leave the key in the car with the person and have them lock the doors.

Tried it last night and this does work (so thanks!), but it's still poor UX design. The button on the right is the "door mode" button per the illustration. Yet it turns off the interior lights that come on prior to opening the door.

If you get into the situation I originally described, press the door mode button on the right to turn off all the lights except the light originally left on. Then you can turn that one off, and press the door mode button again to get all the lights back on.
