Map Update is a Mess

Has anyone noticed a change in the Mach E’s navigation map in the past week?

I drive the same roads to my kids’ school and then to work. All of a sudden:

• The navigation is suggesting different routes
• There are roads on the map that don’t exist in real life. It now tells me to turn into people’s driveways on roads that aren’t there
• There is a dirt road that enters my community that cars don’t drive on - now the navigation thinks it’s a road and is suggesting I use it. This never happened before even though the dirt road was on the map
• Suggested reroute times are all different than they used to be. Sometimes they are as much as 5 minutes more for the same route.

The dirt road is something google maps always suggests (but Apple Maps doesn’t) so i wonder if Ford got an update. Seems like a step backwards to me. Especially when in my small sample size there are this many changes.

I actually noticed some improvements with speed limits. There was a part of I-85 I regularly drive on that the car would insist was 60 MPH.

I know I could turn off the auto speed limit option but I like it when on trips so I have just become accustomed to turning off blue cruise as I pass through the area.

A couple days ago I realized I had not turned blue cruise off and the car was still going 75. I drove through the area again going the other direction and no drop to 60, the car remained at 75.

Sounds like the GPS is off. Try reboot

My map went bad a few days ago on my 2023 Mach-e. It took me off route and then into a business drive. I drove back on the real route a half a mile before it came good. Only happened once but looked like a real glitch in the map database and not a GPS error.

Honestly in the 3 years I've owned the car I've only used the Ford maps once.

Agree, I wish they would focus their limited resources on software features outside what Apple CarPlay and Android Auto offer.

I have only noticed the message that the navigation to a location does not exclude some unmarked roads, when no unmarked roads exist along the route.

The portion of the TransCanada Highway between Golden and Revelstoke keeps getting closed in the built in maps, routing a huge detour through Cranbrook. This section of highways does occasionally close for avalanche control, but the detour shows up in the plan even when the highway is open. And, when the highway is closed for avalanche control, it's usually faster to wait out the closure.

Make sure you're map is still set to "fastest" route. This behaves most like what you'd expect in routing.

I accidentally switched mine to "eco" routing at one point and it comes up with the most INSANE routing. Like driving across USAF base flight lines and fording through rivers where there's no bridge...

I had a similar issue with my cars nav. It seems that after an update, the navigation settings were reset and it was avoiding all freeways. I just went back in nav avoid settings and toggled on and off and that worked for me.

Agree, I wish they would focus their limited resources on software features outside what Apple CarPlay and Android Auto offer.

Ford spends no resources on maps, it's done by HERE.

I’ve noticed this too. I know I put in trouble tickets to the map company for my roads that ended up fixed. My issue was side roads (low speed limits) overlapping the faster road causing sudden speed changes. But I do wonder if all the people seeing the same issue caused the to fix it.
